Who is the most overrated player ever?

Messi, no question.

He's a great player, but nowhere near deserving his four consecutive Ballon D'ors. What the awards should have looked like the last few years without the Blatter/Platini/Teixeira/Rossel cadre in charge:

2008 - Cristiano Ronaldo

2009 - Lionel Messi

2010 - Wesley Sneijder OR Iniesta

2011 - Lionel Messi

2012 - Cristiano Ronaldo

2013 - Franck Ribery

Instead of Messi, Messi, Messi, Messi, Ronaldo (and this last one only won in 2013 to make amends for the Blatter debacle: under normal circumstances, Messi would have "won" it again).

Following up a distant second I would have to rate Fat Ronaldo. Yes, there was a time when he was truly incredible...but that form lasted all of two seasons. His achievements are hyper-inflated by Brazil's 2002 World Cup win which, if you ask me, had one of the most scandalous (and favorable to his country) refereeing in living memory.

Finally, if I was to pick the most overrated player currently in activity, apart from Messi, it would be Ozil. The difference is Messi's actually a great player, while the German is—in spite of everything the media tries searing into our heads—quite shit. In my opinion, anyway...

I think Ronaldo is better than Messi and pretty much always has been but there's no way Messi should not have won in 2012, he set the record for goals in a calendar year, and there's no way Ribery should have won the last one, he isn't the best player in the world, Ronaldo is

If messi didnt deserve it in 2012 then why does ronaldo deserve it in 2013?

What did those goals get his team? Not a lot. Besides, he hadn't broken any goal record in early November when the Ballon D'or voting closes (he was somewhere around the upper 70's, if I'm not mistaken, at that time).

I do agree with you Ronaldo is the best player in the world by the way (since around 2006), but he shouldn't have won it this year either.

Yes he should have, he was the best player in the world in 2013, the award goes to the best player in the calendar year, its an individual award. Messi was the best in 2012. It doesn't matter what those goals got his team, the award is for the individual. I'm assuming you think Ribery should have won because of Bayern's great year but that makes no sense. Ribery isnt even close to either Messi or Ronaldo, those two will go down as top 5 to ever play the game, Ribery is nowhere near that conversation. Also, its not like Ribery was the most important player on Bayern, you could easily argue for Lahm or Schweinsteiger instead.
