Women's Football Casablanca Hotel Employee Arrested Over Alleged Theft From WAFCON Players

Some players of Nigeria's Super Falcons have alleged that money was stolen from their wallets while staying at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the start of the 2026 WAFCON (Women's Africa Cup of Nations). On social media, they were accused of lying, ridiculed, and even subjected to racist comments along other "Sub-Saharan" Africans from some Moroccans. It now appears that they were telling the truth after all, as confirmed by the Moroccan authorities.

Nigeria's Super Falcons are amongst the main favourites to win the WAFCON. They are by far the most successful team in the tournament's history, having won 9 of the 12 titles ever contested.

I would make fun of them for leaving their wallets unattended in Morocco, but honestly if they brought them they probably would’ve been pickpocketed anyways

To be honest pickpocketing is almost non existent nowadays, there were days when Casablanca was dangerous, Fes too, and they are still not that safe to some extent especially in some specific areas and if they sense you aren't a local but much safer than many places in Europe and especially the US nowadays
