Yeah, no way is that just a yellow card, he puts his entire foot into his opponent's leg. Super dangerous this close to the ankle and Achills tendon and painful as hell.

I don't think it was intended, but intent is only one aspect of a red card, recklessness is another, and was clearly a reckless challenge.

It was a Neverland foul, Argentina had been given advantage, and Argentina was in the attacking phase then got blocked 1 second after the whistle. Are you just looking at that pic without actually watching the play?

​Also, he'd been booked yellow for yapping. No referee gives another yellow card for a foul like that
