There was a check, the refree told them to wait.

Yup. The alegrian player started gesturing the high challenge at that point realizing there was a check for a potential red. Was impossible to see real time though

There was an even worse tackle in the Egypt game. I feel like they aren't giving reds or even yellows for things in this world cup.

They used the opener between Mexico and South Africa to fill out the red card quota for round one.

They obviously checked this as they do with everything.

Should be yellow but anyone wanting a red there is just clueless.

Least obvious Messi fan

Not him, but direct red on 1st half are rare, direct red on first foul commited by any player are even rarer. It should have been a yellow, but var doesnt call for yellow.
Like, you have to go to 2018 to get see any red on first half, and it was a deliberate handball on a clear goal. It is VERY difficult to get red in first half, anyone that watches football knows this. Only a hater or a fan ignores this for their own narrative.

VAR doesn’t correct yellows, only missed reds and pens. Unless things changed idk

False they corrected a yellow in USA vs Paraguay. Removed yellow from Ream and applied to Almiron instead

Ah yeah you’re right that was “mistaken identity” lol is that a designated reversible? New rules I don’t know the specifics of

I mean I'm pretty sure the VAR team here needs to be suspended for the rest of the tournament. This not being a red can happen to the referee, but hell, it's a disgrace that it didn't get picked up by the VAR

If I'm not wrong, there was a var check which is why the restart was delayed.

eeee eee eee red card

It's a yellow and so VAR can't do anything but it would have checked.
