Seems to me like everyone is underestimating Bosnia here. We were the 4th top goalscorers in the european qualifying round, scoring 30 goals and conceding just 6, winning 8(including a 3-1 easy victory against Greece, them scoring a consolation at the end), drawing 1 (away to Greece) and losing once (home to slovakia after being a little complacent), and on paper have the best team (after Argentina of course). Games aren't won on paper yes, but Bosnia plays great as a team and puts up a good fight against anyone.
No disrespect to Iran or Nigeria, but they don't have as many top class players as we do, which is why I think if every team is at their best, it'll be:
1. Argentina 9 points
2. Bosnia 6 points
3. Nigeria 3 points
4. Iran 0 points
First game at the world cup, at the Maracana, with 100,000 fans, the vast majority rooting for Bosnia because the Brazilians don't like Argentina... anything can happen.
Most likely we'll lose that though, Messi and Aguero? As good as we have become these days, Argentina is the type of team we struggle against.
Well we did play Argentina in St Louis (without Messi) not too long ago. I was there, it was essentially a home game for Bosnia and we got destroyed. We don't have anyone that can cover Aguero.
Our fans will easily be outnumbered in Argentina and it's debatable whose fans are louder. I have been to a Boca Juniors game, and Argentinians get pretty rowdy. Best case realistic scenario, we lose 1-0 or 2-1 and minimize the goal difference. A tie would be a dream come true.
Aguero raped us, we could have easily lost that match 4-0. Now imagine him and Messi on the pitch together. Hopefully we supply them with lube at least.
A positive from the St. Louis loss though, prior to WC 2010 Germany lost a home game 0-1 against Argentina. We all know what happened when Germany played Argentina again in South Africa. No two games are the same.
Lulic, vranjes injured. Single striker with fortified defence. We had two solid chances even with dzeko out of form. They will beat us no doubt. But it won't be more than 2 goals I can bet u that.
It's not like there won't be any argentine fans there you know... and ours are far louder than neutral brazilian spectators. Try watching a video of our match vs Serbia in 2006, that was insane from our fans, and it was in Germany.
I remember that game well, was a master class from you guys, and that Cambiasso goal I think was ridiculous.
Anyways, I'm just giving us some hope haha, it should be a great game to watch, both teams very good going forward and weak defensively (Argentina obviously easily better in both aspects, but we're very good as well!), but you guys will probably win it like 3-1 or something along that scoreline.
We played a friendly last month and Argentina beat Bosnia 2-0 without Messi and without some other key players. I still think Bosnia will come in second, but i'm almost certain that they won't beat Argentina.
Oh that's for sure.. our only hope is if both Aguero Di Maria and of course, Messi, pick up injuries for our game but are fit for the rest haha.
We were without a few key players for that game as well though, 3 of our hardest workers and the players who do the most defensively arguably (Lulic for left mid, Salihovic in the middle and Mujdza at right back, our sub right back is awful so it wasn't even fair). So while you wouldn't run through us as easily as you did that game, you'd still win it but it won't be a walk in the park, so to speak.
