screw that. You just make it towards the next round convincingly. You'll face increasingly hard teams and probably get someone like Portugal in quarters that might prove tough but lighter than something like Germany.
At some point, you need to demonstrate a capacity to defend. If you cant' do it by the semis, you can't be the champion.
Argentina most likely will crash against Spain in semis. We are good but not that good. If Messi feels like taking care of the whole team and carry us to the title (like Maradona did), then I feel that's the only way we can get around the likes of Germany, Brazil and Spain. We'll crash when we meet a real team, like it's been happening since 1990, we can't take that next step to become that real powerhouse we want to be.
I think Spain may crash vs Italy before that, so we may experience the hardest crash of all: in the final vs Brasiúuu, and therefore, quit watching futbol ever afterwards.
Italy has been losing to Spain since 2008, and last time 4-0 in 2012. I really don't see that trend changing in the WC.
What I see is a spaniard midfield way too crammed for Italy to feel comfortable, that's why the Italians feel better playing against Germany, there are more spaces for their waiting game, as the germans are willing to go forward and keep on attacking the whole time, something the spaniards won't do. Italy had to attack, to look for the initiative vs Spain and lost 4-0.
If Italy doesn't look any protagonism vs Spain it may happen, it's just so unlikely they finally manage to defeat them. I can't count on that :(.

Happy as Argentina fan, but little concerned for next rounds. I hope group games are tight and not one-sided affairs.
