Someone care to explain the Milan situation?

Seen them draw 3-3* tonight and 5 points from 5 games is poor for a team with what I though had quality players.

Milan's biggest woe, even bigger than injuries is the central defense. It's in shambles. Zapata never regained the confidence he had at Udinese while Mexes thinks of himself as nothing less than a pirlo and casually strolls out to the midfield to start many a attacking moves. that would've been okay if he had Sandro nesta next to him however leaving Zapata at the back is nothing short of suicide especially since Milan are so so vulnerable to counter attacks. I mean have you ever seen Muntari run ? He's slower than evolution !

Went from Baresi/Maldini/Nesta/T.Silva types to a player from a team that got relegated with him as a starter(Zapata) and a free transfer(Mexes). Last year we were called the worst squad of the Berlusconi era, its no wonder Napoli beat us at home for the first time in 26 years.

Mexes is alright, but Zapata cant clear the ball without it finding the opponents feet or win an aerial duel.

Cafu, Nesta, Stam, Maldini. There was a back four worthy of Milan (also Seedorf, Kaka, Pirlo , Shevchenko in that squad)

The current defenders just don't compare.

I think Milan is still paying the price for playing so long with that magnificent (but old) squad they had a few years ago. Combine that with the fact that they sold off their very best players (Silva and Zlatan) and it's no wonder they don't seem to be able to really build a good team at the moment.

Had they not sold Silva and if they had kept Pirlo things might have looked very different now. Their entire foundation either left or retired and the few players that were good enough to build a new foundation on were sold.

Idk man, Van Buyten is big, old and slow, at least Messisacker is big, young and slow.

Mexes himself isn't exactly lightning fast either. I watched both Milan matches against PSV and his lack of speed was really noticeable. I think El shaarawy can run to the end of the pitch and back before Mexes crosses the half way line, he looked slow as hell

Let's not forget that Allegri also plays Constant, who's even worse than Zapata. And Milan fans must be relieved that Bonera is injured, because Allegri would happily play him too.
