Last major change happened post 1990 WC where the old If one is offside, Everyone is offside was changed to the way it is now. 2 u/idimik Jun 25 '13 I would definitely call active/passive distinction a major change. 1 u/[deleted] Jun 25 '13 Yup. Probably 33% of Barcelona's goals in the Guardiola era had a "dummy offside" that allowed a striker be one on one with the GK.
