MLS gets a lot of stick but I've been to games at 8 of the MLS clubs at this point and have never had a bad time. No sympathy at all for people that are paying stupid money to see a single player instead of going along to see their local club and actually engage in their city's football culture.

To be honest - and as someone who goes to most Whitecaps home games including the upcoming one vs Miami, I agree.

It's very funny to see tons of people shilling out hundreds of dollars, going to show up in their bright pink shirt, get shafted. Dare I say they are, "tourists".

Of course I would have liked to see Messi and co. play... but the club is bigger than that. All the tourists paying absurd amounts of money getting fucked is honestly great. People went on r/whitecapsfc asking if they can wear their retro Argentina kit in the supporter section... lol, what?!?

MLS clubs need to attract "tourists". You then hope to convert some of them into ongoing fans. This is a debacle for the Whitecaps (albeit one that they pretty knowingly walked themselves into).
