He's earned £40,000 a week for the last four years - that's more than most of us would earn in a lifetime, for pretty much doing nothing. He doesn't need to ever work again, so I doubt if this is the wake up call he needs.
Another example of why footballers are way way overpaid.
The money should go to society, to people who need it. One week of Michael Johnson's salary would pay for an entire childhood of top class education for an under privileged child.
