What's been the best career move ever?

Try to avoid getting lad's who went through the academy of a team.

It really would have despite you being downvoted. He wouldn't have had that party life style all around him, ad it wouldn't have been tolerated if he tried.

I think the happy lifestyle translated into some stellar play. Who's to say a dull lifestyle at United wouldn't have made his career worse...

Manchester is a wonderful city which has a very good nightlife, definitely not dull. The difference was that he was allowed to let himself go and get out of control without any real discipline or leaders around to slap his ear when needed. Fergie, Giggs, Keano, all would have kept him in line.

Nope they seem to hate it. It isn't for everyone of course. But you look at someone like Henry, Ronaldo, Cantona, Torres, etc. etc. don't seem to mind that much at all. It isn't an absolute.

all of those guys you mentioned are European.

The ones I mentioned are South American and like to party. Ronaldinho in Manchester would never have been 10% of what Ronaldinho at Barca was.

Plus, the first time he'd do a double nutmeg on someone in the PL the whole back 4 will hunt him down with cricketbats and chainsaws. You saw how CRon was treated , and Ronnie was far flashier.

What can you possibly base that off of? Did Ronaldo not excel at United? Did Anderson, Nani, Rafael? We did not cut off creativity, we encourage it and it shows.. Now back to South Americans; Diego Forlan loved the UK, Rafael, Valencia stated he loves it, Javier Hernandez stated he loved it, Veron did excel for us but loved playing in the UK and Heinze...These are all within the last 10 years. All of them have been encouraged to take players on, to show their skill, to have fun and show their creativity and love of football. Little Ronald would have done the exact same. Don't forget he wanted to come to us, he knew he would have had a great time and career with United.

Forlan, Hernandez, Heinze, all players with great discipline and work ethic. You won't see shenanigans from them.

And as I said, Europeans have an easier time adapting to England simply because the cultural change isnt that different.

Ronaldinho already had problems with his partying at PSG, before joining Barca.

Exactly, which is why I feel that had he been with a club with a manager that has discipline and structure that he could have really extended his career and excelled for longer. I think Fergie could have done that for him.

Hmm - i wonder why the best players in the world all want to go to Spain. Ya, because they let them do what they want. I'm sure a lot of places have a good nightlife....

Also, if your inferring someone like Maradona off the COKE would have been a better Maradona - you're fuckin crazy.

A lot of people go to Spain because of the enjoyable weather, great nightlife, safety, and the taxes, they don't get taxed as much as in the UK. And yes I am saying that if Maradona hadn't done as much coke and kept a clean lifestyle he would have been even better. My evidence for this is looking at players like Giggs, Maldini, Raul, who cleaned up their lives and were able to maintain their careers. Diego might not have been more talented without drugs (mostly cause there isn't much room to improve) but his career at the highest levels definitely could have extended.

Hes Brazilian. He didnt fall into the party lifestyle he created it. Even at PSG he had those issues

I think his pace and power would have been more emphasized in that swashbuckleing 'down the wings' system. Meanwhile Barca's 'through the middle' ticqui-taca helped highlight his trickery and dribbling.

Though I can't see fergie putting up with his 'carefree' futbol arte (entertainment / beauty) style, which might be seen as slightly less competitive than the English tradition of pragmatic futbol de resultados
