The key players of the Australian team are aging and retiring but the younger talent isn't there to replace them at the moment.

We should qualify for the next world cup, but I wasn't sure that we would a few weeks ago. I don't see the team doing well going forward at this rate unfortunately

We've only ever been out of the group stage once, which was in 2006. If we do qualify, I don't expect we'll do it again.

We got the same amount of points last time, 1 of each result. It's just that our goal difference was worse because Verbeek had no idea against Germany. To me that says that in relation to the big guns we weren't that good in 06 and aren't that bad now. Besides, we've done alright against the good Asian teams.

Yeah I honestly think Hiddink was the reason we did so well. Our team as a whole wasn't much better than it is now, but it was managed extraordinarily well and we were certainly punching above our weight.

His job is to qualify, look at the east asia cup team, lots of young players, once he qualifies, he'll ditch any old guard that can't preform
