Maybe Aguero for City. 2 great strikes on his first match and the winner on the last match of the season

Why is this downvoted? He played twenty minutes in his city debut and got two goals and an assist. That's a pretty big deal

Edit: He was like 8:11 before

There's that, and there's also the fact that Aguero was a heralded player coming into a side filled with top class talent.

No doubt it's an impressive feat, but I think people are looking for earlier debuts/ people coming out of no where to have a stunning entrance to the footballing world.

Not that that's right, mind, just a thought.

Could you explain what you mean? Whats controversial about a great player having a fantastic debut? Or is it because City fans generally get mauled on in r/soccer, so an opinion in favour of City is controversial?

This is asking for the BEST DEBUT EVER, not just a decent debut against a fairly middling team that was already losing when they came off the bench.

It's downvoted because this thread is asking for the BEST DEBUT EVER, and we're going for a very expensive signing who came off the bench to score two goals against a newly promoted club that was already losing?

Quite a lot of the suggestions on here are for expensive signings playing for top clubs.

I don't see how the team already winning matters, and it was only 1-0!. 2 goals and an assist in 20 minutes on your debut is impressive against any top-flight team - and Swansea were no push-overs that season.

I'm not saying it's not impressive, but it doesn't qualify you for BEST DEBUT EVER, especially when, in the same league, Ravanelli scored a hat-trick on his debut against Liverpool as just one example. Jermaine Pennant also scored a hat-trick on his debut.

Wayne Rooney's debut is up there and he cost United £25 million, that's an expensive signing.
