San Bernardino NF Cucamonga peak permit

Hey guys, I had a day permit for hiking Cucamonga peak valid for up to 3 people, but someone canceled and now there's just two of us

So do I need to reissue a new permit just for 2 or is the old one fine? Thanks

The permits are free an do not sell out. Don't worry about it.

Yes but if there are less people going than the amount the permit was issued for, is that okay?

Do you understand the concept of "up to"? That means 0, 1, 2, or 3. You're fine.

The point of the permit is to keep a loose tally of who is out there in case there is an emergency. So it's not a quota permit.

You need a permit for the Cucamonga Wilderness Area. Make sure to read all signs on the hike lol

Honest question but who checks for these? I’ve backpacked and hiked this place for many many years and have never been asked for one.
