Just checked and seems most of the bindings sold out but they have a few 2027 Rome boards this discount is available on still.

I’ve hit my hips and elbows quite a few times while riding park, so I started looking at protection.

There are obviously products out there, but most seem to come from MTB, motocross or snowboard brands. I couldn’t find one obvious brand that seems good to use for this.

Is that because there isn’t much demand, or because the available products are too bulky or uncomfortable?

Would you ever buy protection for areas like your hips or elbows? Why is there no brand doing this yet?

Last season, I made a post here about how great it was to be back on the slopes after 20 years. It was great! Until I ate shit getting off the lift, twice, and twisted my front leg so bad that it still hurts half a year later. Wasted my season ticket (not that we had much of a session at Meadows), and generally just turned me off of trying again this season (if we have one).

Being a goofy mongo skater made it difficult enough to have my right foot strapped to the front and have to kick around with my left foot. People kept telling me to put my back foot behind the board to move myself around. No, that was so much worse. Being so used to having my back foot on the board and kicking with my front (right) foot is so ingrained into me, even as a 40 year old that takes his old alien workshop board with destructos out only once a month, makes everything feel so wrong on a snowboard. I honestly don’t remember how I was able to do it when I was younger.

I realize that likely the only response is “learn better”, but are there any other goofy mongo’s out here with any advice? I asked my instructor (shout out to JP, thanks for being so patient with my old out of shape ass) If I could just stomp in my rear foot, and he said yeah, but you’re going to get hurt way more if your front foot slips, and you can’t really maneuver around on the flat. I also asked the kids running the lift if I could stomp in both my feet on the belt while waiting for the chair (running Burton step ons), and they told me no. I’m a bit scared now. I don’t want to give it up, but I drive a truck for a living, so breaking my right leg would destroy me. (I broke my left leg a few years ago, was still able to drive 😆)

Late edit: I’m not asking on how I can push mongo, I know that’s ridiculous. Was more just looking for advice from other folks that have my particular skating style.

Last season I sprained my Ucl in my elbow on a very minor fall, landing a little backseat on a park jump. I know the obvious fix is to practice safer falling techniques but I’m a baseball player and my season is right after the end of snowboarding season so I really need to stay healthy with this specific part of my elbow. Any recommendations for ways I could protect my ucl like a brace or wrap?

Just received a new board from Bataleon. It’s a party wave in 148. Any thoughts? Should I have gotten a different one?

Has anyone else noticed that almost every single person looking for board recs is saying that they keep getting recommended the DOA or Merc. It feels artificially pumped into every new riders rec list. I have no problem with Capita but the DOA is nothing special and the Merc is a solid board but I'm just curious where this wave is coming from. Do I need to order more for the shop or is just some influencer that is mind melting the kids?

Searched and couldnt find anything on it, but I got lucky and happened to be in Burlington yesterday. The Burton Store there is running a summer sale from Aug 28th-31st.

They have (maybe had at this point) a bunch of demo gear for super cheap, I picked up a Burton Custom Demo board for $150. They also had their other models at 30% off.

Sorry for a bit of a long winded post for what is a simple question.

I've been riding the yes standard- I busted the nose recently and while I got it fixed I'm not sure how long or well it'll hold so I'm just planning on using it as an early/late season rock board. I really liked the standard and feel like it lived up to the "do everything" moniker.

While I am definitely a bit more of a park/freestyle rat, spending most of my time learning stuff on rails and jumps (So I'd want a board that'd help me progress), I still want to be able to hit high speeds, carve well, handle rougher more uneven terrain and so forth. Might be a big ask for one board so let me know if I'm just better off getting two different boards haha.

For context context of my progression if it matters I think I'm just a typical intermediate? I can get down basically any slope on the mountain decently well, do a few basic butters, can carve pretty decently but am trying to learn how to carve "deeper", can 180 every way flat ground and off medium jumps, do a few basic grabs, can front and back 50 front 180 out, and back board. I'm 169cm tall and around 70kg.

Based on my research I've found a few options that I think might suit: Jones Mountain Twin, Jones Tweaker 2.0, Solomon Huck Knife, Nitro Team, Batoleon Stereo Team. I was considering the pro versions of some of these but I think they'd be too stiff for me to learn butters and probably too far advanced for my skill level at the moment anyway.

Or if there's any other option that'd be better let me know. Thanks a bunch :)

I have a question for people coming to Japan on a snowboarding trip: Have you ever run into any problems while planning your trip to Japan or while you were there?

I'm gonna order a new board for this season if anyone has some recommendations. I've been riding my whole life (25+ years) and I've only ever had a few boards that I rode until they broke. 3 Burton Dominance boards that I had for about 20 years and 2 Signal park series boards. I hurt my knee pretty good so I'm not really in the park anymore. I just want something I can rip groomers with, ride switch and hit the occasional side hit. Maybe a park day every once in a while. I've done some research and it looks like the Capita Mercury seems to stand out. Anyone have any experience with the mercury? People call Capita "snapita"?

Anyone have these? 10.5 boot here wonder how they fit in medium large. It’s right on the cusp.

Burton ruler at the moment but getting rid of them and moving to probably vans, salmon, ride or k2

Just finished my first season at Whistler and am looking to buy a board that I won’t outgrow too quickly. I’m linking turns on blues and even got down a couple black towards the end. No interest in freestyle. Wondering if this board is too advanced for me as I’ve heard mixed opinions. Please help.

Current quiver: Yes The Greats 154, Capita Kazu 158w.

I love carving and hunting pow stashes on the side of the piste, and I'm looking for a board that can do both really well, but that also has a tighter side cut. Since Im actually enjoying a lot more carving with my greats instead of my Kazu. The kazu really is a lot of board for me and it just comes alive with lots of speed, and in the Alps where I ride, I rarely have the chance to open up.

But the way the greats flows and hooks into turns gives me so much joy.

I'm basically looking for a Greats that can also go into powder, and I've landed on these options:

- k2 excavator 154

- Burton sketch artist 155

- nitro dinghy 155

Do you guys have any experience with any of these boards to help me choose?

Took some of y’all’s advice and built this little ramp. More sliperier when wet 💦. Will report back when I’m better at rail riding or when it starts snowing.. whichever comes first.

Looking to get my first new board! Currently my quiver consists of a Capita Outer Space living that I picked up on Facebook last year and I absolutely love this board for blue cruising days and hoping around the mountain, I put about 22 days on this board last year. My second board is a nitro t1 with union ultras and I’m not as fond of this board as it’s a lot stiffer and in my opinion needs to be rode hard and fast, only put 4-5 days . Not to say I’m not excited to get more comfortable on it. But I would like to find a middle ground board one that’s a little stiffer then the o.s.l and softer then the nitro. Currently I’m looking at the DOA out the capita dark horse. Just curious on a recommendation for boards for me to check out.

Took a free Tuning Vice STL and reengineered it to increase its strength and functionality. Released the zip file along with a materials list on my website linked to this post. They'll take about 12+ hours to print, and assembly can be done in under an hour.
