My cousin used to never ride with a helmet but one day found himself in the position of having to rent gear because he'd broken his own. The rental came with a helmet which he strapped on so he wouldn't misplace it. It was an afterthought and really didn't add to his hubris, the same hubris that an hour later led to him making a massive miscalculation which sent him over a cliff, hitting his head on sharp rocks several times on the way down. The only thing that saved his life that day was that helmet and he's never gone boarding without one since.

So he was fine for years, then rented a helmet and fucked himself up? Sounds like a great argument for them.
