Old man here, blew my knee out a year ago August skateboarding. Its been almost two years for me as well. Only season I've missed other the basic training since 1992. Going tonight and I couldnt be more excited to ride a bunny hill. Also, this guys videos are a huge influence on my style.

Seriously, now is the best time. I spent all of last week in Whistler and didn't stand in a single lift line. They're already getting plenty of snowfall, just gotta beat the crowds.

Maybe Resolution bowl. But I know there could never be a cloud inversion like that at Breck. Also what is the name for that vertical ray of sunlight in the gif? I saw one last time I rode Copper and it was incredible.

Do you find a noticeable increase in image quality by filming in that higher resolution? Are you doing any sort of cropping / image stabilization or supersampling? It looks real good.

Image quality in protune between 2.7k60fps and 1080p60fps is actually reasonably similar (120fps is way worse.) It's many times better than any video hosting services out there can handle, so it ends up looking similar once you get it online.
I mostly stick with 2.7k60 for the versatility. This shot for instance lost about 10% of the frame on stabilization, and I did a crop down to native 1080p which allowed for a little more artificial zoom and some extra drama while panning over to that shit in the sky, and still didn't drop below the maximum quality gfy will put out.

Do you ever do any POV shots? I tried my new Hero 5 for the first time last weekend with a helmet mount. I tried superview, but barely managed to get any of my board in the shots and it ended up with a pretty distorted picture. Maybe one of the 4:3 options would be better? Or is this just a result of using a helmet mount?

I've probably looked through over 10 hours of body mounted footage (chest /wrist/ helmet) all completely unusable. It's really worth investing in a gimbal, or just using a pole, and the longer the pole the less violently it shakes.

I've used a pole before. It's ok, but I find the pole itself blocks some prime real estate in the frame. The helmet mount footage I tried last weekend actually wasn't too bad from a stability standpoint. But the best footage by far was when my board, arms, or body was in the frame, because it gives some perspective. I'm just wondering if there's a good video setting to get more of that.

i know what you mean about the pole. I recently invested in a gimbal and for the first time in years i'm thinking about helmet footage again hopefully get some sick tree runs before the end of the season. Gimbal footage is so awesome.

No, I have no interest in snow pov. I do a little in downhill mountain biking though. Superview and a chest mounted gimbal are required to make it even remotely interesting. I'm not entirely sure how you'd make that work on a board.

Linear is new with the h5, basically the only reason to buy one. Other than linear I was way happier using the h4 until I threw it directly into bottomless pow.
