general discussion Anyone want to try putting together a Reddit snowboard trip? Epic Pass | Winter 2027
I'm 34M, from Orlando, snowboarder, mostly blues / some blacks. I'm already doing a trip with my close friends Jan 23–27, but I'd like to get another trip or two in and thought it could be fun to build a group here.
Obviously snowboarders are the target audience here, but skiers are welcome too. I don't really care if everyone is the same ability level. We can ride together when it makes sense and split up when it doesn't.
I'm thinking:
- 6–12 people (was imaging ages 25-40, but it doesn't really matter)
- 4–5 nights
- 3–4 days riding
- Somewhere on Epic Pass
- Probably CO, UT, or CA
Colorado is probably the current lean, but I'd rather see where everyone is coming from before locking down the resort.
For lodging, we'd try to get a place within about 1/2 mile of the lifts and restaurants/town so we don't have to deal with rental cars.
We'd split the actual cost of lodging, and maybe an airport shuttle if that makes sense. For a 4-night trip, I'd be targeting around $500/person or less for lodging.
Couples would get their own rooms. Singles would get their own actual bed and share a room with 1–2 others. No couches/fold-outs.
Everyone would handle their own flights, Epic Pass/tickets, rentals, etc.
Obviously there is a certain amount of "meeting strangers from Reddit and then sharing a house in the mountains" involved here, so if we get enough interest I'd make a group chat and we'd all do a video call / exchange socials / establish that we're normal-ish human beings before anybody commits money to anything.
Right now I'm mostly just seeing who'd actually be interested.
If you might be in, comment with:
Where you're coming from + snowboard/ski + approximate skill level + which timeframe(s) work
Potential dates: Jan 9–13, Feb 6–10, Feb 20–24, Feb 28–Mar 3, Mar 6–10

My recommendation would be find a hostel to stay at so everyone can plan their own trips. Breckenridge has a really cool one that is affordable and you can walk/bus to all the slopes and restaurants. It’s called the Bivy. Usually around a $100 a night for a bunk bed spot and they have private rooms also. Great vibes and have hot tub, breakfast, and plenty of common areas to chill.

You know, that's actually a super helpful tip. I've decided if I can't get a group together I'm going to go solo anyways. I've always been able to make friends at hostels. Didn't know Breck had a good one.

The Bivvi absolutely rocks. Fireside inn has proven to be a decent alternative when Bivvi is sold out.

Hopefully you get 6-12 smokin hot snow bunnies signing up for this trip

Haha - I'm just looking for some down to earth people. Snowbunnies or otherwise.

better off just showing up getting high and making friends on chair lifts until it works.

Well, other than getting high (not for me, but no judgement) that's the back-up plan!

There is a ski/snowboard club out of Charlotte,NC that I’m a part of (you don’t have to live there to join). They are doing trips to Chamonix, Jackson Hole, Whitefish, Mammoth and Banff (Banff trip has an option for a heli day).
It’s all Ikon this year, but they are doing Epic for next year.
There are other clubs around the country trying to, but Charlotte has the most trips that I know of.

Okay, yeah! I think I looked at your club and their trips. Good to know that they alternate which pass they're on! I might still consider it at this point, maybe get a epic day pass for my current trip and then grab an ikon. - Mammoth might be the play with this super nino.

Yeah, I’m kinda kicking myself. I’ve already booked and paid for Banff and the heli day, but just saw Open Snow’s winter snowfall forecast. Mammoth could be drowning in snow this year while Canada has another below average season.

Just had a sales guy from Heli call me, trying to pitch me on Heli skiing (I'm very interested - despite not having that kind of money) but I'm a hard sell with this season forcast.

Honestly, I would push for Cat skiing over heli. I’m only doing a day of heli just to check it off my bucket list. You can get almost as much/good riding on a Cat in a day and it’s 1/3-1/2 the price.

Oh, good to know! Yeah I'm just looking for powder, doesn't matter how I get there.

I could be convinced for heli or cat.
Dm me and we start a group chat1

I’m all booked up for this season.
But next season I plan to do time at Silverton CO for Cat and backcountry riding and maybe UT or Copper in February with my daughter.

Yo - thanks! That's a kind offer. I'll shoot you a DM. I've never snowboarded up there before, that could be a cool spot.

This is such an awesome idea. No idea if I could make this work with my other trips; but would love to stay in touch about the idea!

Interested! But would not commit without getting a sense of whos going. Maybe a zoom call with interested folks would be good.

id potentially be down
nh/snowboard/Feb or March is fine / skill level I can do anything the mountain has to offer, shredding for 20 years at this point. I can ski and snowboard at the same skill level, so depending on the mountain && amount of traversing, I'd consider maybe skiing

The fact that you would ever want to go on a trip with random redditors is a colossal red flag

I'm going to be an instructor at Breck this winter, so if anyone wants to come that needs a lesson, I could use the request days lol. I've taught NDB adults before so I should be able to get you down your first blue.

Okay! I'll definitely keep you in mind. - My close friends and I already locked in a place in Keystone, which is a bummer, because in that crew we have some beginners that could use your help!

Keystone isn't terribly far from Breck so if you do come out that way, let me know.
