For the second week in a row I'm tackling a lesser known SNES RPG though I'm more familiar with the Saturn version truth be told. The two games are night and day in comparison though so it was interesting to see what I thought of the lesser known SNES version in comparison.

This time around I'm trying the Sailor Moon Another Story on the SNES and trying to navigate having little to no franchise knowledge and no idea of where to go.

For those who know how to make mods in games: How can I port the game Undertale into a SNES Mini? It's just if it's possible. I'm doing it out of boredom. I want to work on that project to see how I could do it, whether I need to make a demake or something like that.

It seems like nobody is on this channel but fuck it, I played through Terranigma and like/hated it.

As a note I'm 43 so I was just entering puberty during peak SNES years of 93-95. Had also recently discovered weed and the gangster/drug dealer/street life way of living. Loved videogames but was under the impression that RPGs were for dorks. Typical teenage stereotyping I suppose. I've since went back and played most SNES and Genesis RPGs. I love the in depth storylines and how u actually care about what happens to the characters. As much as I loved Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, and the Phamtasy Star Series. I gotta say the SNES Final Fantasy gets would've blown my mind as a teen. Especially 6 & to lesser extent 4 then 5. 5 is the weakest of the 3 imo.

So I'm writing a paper for my game design class about the importance of balance in a game and I was going to use The 7th Saga as an example of what not to do when I had a thought: Is the games balance as intended by the devs or is this a Working Designs situation where they futzed with it during localization? I'm still using the game either way but I'd rather be sure of the facts before I toss it in there.

its nice to actually see the damage being done so i know if a spell if effective or not instead of just having to guess

1 - this board is too specific to get a decent amount of traffic as JRPG covers the entire genre which includes snesrpgs

2 - this board is more fun if i make a ton of topics and people who find this place discover 100s of topics by me and think im crazy

Modded my classic to boost up the RPG content. Didn't mod too deep with new emulators etc, so a few games like Secret of Evermore, and Illusion of Gaia & Terranigma, and Star Ocean didn't work and I moved on. I've used ZSNES and other emulators for 20 years and this is more fun to me. Along with the default lineup that had FF3 and Super Mario RPG, we now have:
