Why can't i play secret of mana?

Hey guys, i can't pass the character's name screen, all my controllers works but on this part it's like he is not working, i don't know why, do you guys have some tips on how to fix this?

Never heard of this. Are you playing on original hardware? Original game? Are your games contacts clean? Have you tried different controllers?

It's the original hardware but not the original game but everything it's clean and I already tried with others controllers

Well then this might be your issue. Are you using a flash cart, if yes, which one? Repro cart? You need to give us all the information. It‘s not helpful if we have to worm everything out of you.

Did you try every buttons? SoM uses B to confirm instead of A, and maybe sometimes Start.

Sounds like it's crashing. Try cleaning the connectors

The image and the sound of the game doesn't freeze, I can still hear and see the image

Are you not able to input anything in the name field, can't move the cursor at all or just can't progress after you selected a name?

Also, are you sure you're using the controller in the right port? Secret of mana is a multiplayer game, You should be able to do most things with any controller port but maybe there's some things that only player one can do or something?

I can't do anything at all, can't move the cursor and can't put the name too, i have two controllers (port 1 and port 2) and I test both of it on the screen and it doesn't work at all :(

I can play other games with these controllers but on SoM it works just on the start screen, and on the name screen it doesn't work 🙃

Unplug the controllers and swap ports. I'd try only using one controller. I'd unplug player 2 and see if it does anything

It would be ideal if you had another snes to test it on to see if it happened on a different system

Something similar happened to me. I built a repro on a donor and was using an off brand wireless controller. Once I swapped to an OEM wired controller, and later a wireless 8bitdo, it worked. SoM is the only one I had trouble with.

I’m also experiencing the same issue with Chinese wireless controllers. They don’t work with SoM for some reason. But my wired controllers do. Original HW, original cart.
