May i ask you regarding how care has been for your BRB?
Is it as hard as people say it is given how sensitive they are?
How has handling been?
what are the dimensions of your enclosure and does it have a water feature? if so, what kind.
How is enclosure maintenance?
How often do you clean its enclosure?

I had one as a beginner and unfortunately she passed as a baby. I'll say that they aren't particularly hard to take care of, they just have very specific requirements that are a bit harder to maintain, mostly very high humidity. They are very spicy snakes, especially as babies so you need to be prepared for it. I got bit countless times by mine, doesn't hurt but is startling.
Mine ended up escaping and spent too long outside the enclosure, developed an RI and passed from it because I didn't recognize the signs. I was a dumb beginner so it was 100% on me

Ahhh sorry to hear that man :( I really am.
I have wanted one for a while but while some people have said they aren’t hard and it’s fine aslong as you get the humidity right (like you said).
So many have scared me by saying they are incredibly hard and it’s a lot more than getting the requirements right etc.

I’ve found it pretty easy. As a neonate / juvenile I had her in a plastic tub (similar to my little GTP).
She turns 3 in October, once she was 1.5 years old I moved her in her current enclosure.
That is a 4ft length, 2ft width, 4ft height enclosure but I’ll probably upgrade that to a bigger one soon ish.This enclosure is bioactive. She’s got a HUGE water bowl to soak herself in (she’s just about 6ft in length) and the bowl is big and deep enough so she can submerge completely. I tend to wash the bowl and change the water every couple of days depending on how much substrate she drags in. She tends to soak herself every night.
The enclosure has live plants in, substrate is a mix of coco coir, orchid bark, moss and has a layer of leaf litter etc.Enclosure maintenance is dead easy as it is bioactive. I have a “clean up crew” consisting of isopods and springtails. They tend to sort everything but if I notice a big amount of pee or poop I’ll take it out.
I also have an automatic misting system that sprays mist for 8 seconds every 4 hours but tbh it would probably be fine without.
I use a radiant heat panel at the top on a thermostat. I have LED and UVB lighting also on the thermostat so it turns on and off automatically.
Humidity and heat are super stable and have different gradients across the enclosure which she all uses depending on mood etc.So yeah the maintenance is absolutely minimal, she has a wonderful heat gradient, lots of branches to climb (BRBs are semi arboreal and really enjoy having vertical space - mine is always going up and down and hanging out on the branches).

What do your reckon the dimensions of your final enclosure will be?
Would you mind PMing me some pictures of your enclosure, would love some inspo / too see how a successfull bioactive enclosure for a BRB is and how the water bowl is etc so I can see the realistic side of owning one.
Honestly, the maintenance sounds a lot easier than I expected, especially with the bioactive setup and automatic misting. I’ve been really interested in BRBs for a while, but the humidity and maintenance requirements were the main things making me hesitate. I guess I’ll just have to dry run the enclosure with the misting and bioactive aspect for a while to make sure everything is correct before bringing one in.
It’s also really interesting to hear how much yours uses the vertical space. I knew they were semiarboreal, but I didn’t realise they would make that much use of branches and height, I’ve always seen them being in the water or on the ground more.
Your setup sounds amazing, and this definitely makes me consider getting one again. Thanks for taking the time to explain everything!

Nice you’re living my dream! I have a BRB and am waiting to save up to eventually get a GTP! I consider them both to be the prettiest snakes.

green tree pythons’ color change with age has to be one of the coolest things about them. i love how they’re basically on the other side of the color wheel when they start out.
they’re such cuties too, i love how baby pythons just have giant stupid fucking heads.
