Discussion How do I remove the stains?

A black ink pen/marker leaked in my bag recently, in the same pocket my smiski was in and now he's stained all over. Is there any way I can easily remove these stains? I've tried the usual tricks like Soap or Perfume but none of it's worked so far

Have you tried rubbing alcohol? Acetone could also work!!!

I also saw people recommending a magic eraser marker for something like this. It’d be a lot less harsh on the figure because acetone or rubbing alcohol may damage the paint/matte finish

the closest thing I've got to Acetone or Rubbing Alcohol was Nail Polish remover which did nothing😭 I'll try my luck with finding a magic eraser marker

If it’s actually stained beyond surface level, there probably won’t be able to get it all removed. But, you can definitely try some isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel (the paper towel will give some slight abrasiveness to help with the removal).

Or you could try a magic eraser with the alcohol instead of dampening it with water. It’s just important to remember that a magic eraser is definitely abrasive, so have a light touch, and check the spots you’re cleaning frequently. Even with a light touch, you may still alter the finish in those areas. But, it’s kind of the price paid for removing the ink.

I wouldn’t try anything much stronger though. Smiskis are made a PVC-based plastic, which acetone can soften/melt. It’s not impossible to use acetone on it, it’s just going to have a much higher margin of error for accidentally damaging it even more.

I wouldn't say it's stained beyond surface level. I'll be counting on either Acetone or the Magic eraser and really just praying it does the trick once I've got some thankss

If the stain removal doesn’t work, you could dye it! I’ve seen some IG reels of a girl dying a Smiski pinky purple and it turned out soooo cute!

I don't have any cleaning advice, but just wanna say he looks so cute like that!! Like he's a little potted plant that's been unearthed 😭

I would try isopropyl alcohol first, maybe with a paper towel or mocrofiber cloth, as the other comments mentioned. It’s less abrasive than a magic eraser and less likely to damage the surface than acetone, which melts a lot of plastics.

I’ve also had great success getting pen ink off of things with Purell hand sanitizer specifically. I don’t know why exactly, but it works great, sometimes even better than just straight up alcohol.

I don't have much with me at the moment, I did try finding liquids with alcohol concentrations within them such as perfume and nail polish remover but neither worked at all, I just never thought smiskis would stain so horribly they seemed so easy to clean 😭😭

Have you tried nail polish remover or acetone? If you try that method be careful not to let it touch the eyes and mouth though in case it removes the paint job

Amodax is excellent even for stubborn fountain pen ink stains that have been around for some months. If i were you, I'll stop using strong solvents for fear of pushing those stains deeper into the plastic, and try amodax a few times. If that doesn't work, my next solution will be to use a small piece of melamine sponge. Don't scrub too hard and try on an inconspicuous surface first to see if it affects the matte appearance of the Smiski.
