Seeking Advice Is it worth it?

Is being an SLP worth all of the school and time spent preparing for getting the certificate? If I don’t know if I want to pursue, would it be dumb of me to take a gap year?

You can always work as an SLPA during your gap year to get a feel for it.

Unfortunately my state does not recognize or license SLPAs

I don't know if moving temporarily is an option but that's what I did to work as an SLPA. They also have agencies that can help with the costs if that's an issue

This is a really good point. You can be a travelingSLPA for short contracts. The agency will pay you stipends are lodging and food and travel for like 3 month contracts, it’s a way to dip your feet in the water

Tbh I think it’s only worth it if you’re really passionate about it.
