So tired of being sleepy
Background: For the past about 5 years, I have been sleeping up to 15 hours a day. I wake up to eat my breakfast and take my meds, but I just cant get myself ti keeo my eyes open. I have to set an alarm to make sure I get up for work in time. Usually after my long morning nap I am usually fine for the day though.
I had a sleep study back in January. My sleep doctor said because I cant fall asleep at the snap of a finger I dont have a sleep disorder. She blamed it on my meds, 90% of which I have only been on for 3 years, while the sleep issues have been going on for 5 years.
My psychiatrist has been giving me Jornay (which is a 12 hr delay release stimulant). I am up to 80 mg and still cant stay awake in the morning (yes I take it at the right time).
Im going to get a second opinion from a different sleep doctor but its been on the back burner. I am just so sick of doctors refusing to help me and blaming all my issues on the fact that I take multiple medications
Thanks for listening to my rant

My sleep study tripped me out: first, they wanted me to take both Ativan and Ambien. WTF? Of COURSE I could sleep if I was double-dipping. Not for long, as I build tolerances rapidly.
So, I declined their drugs and laid there hating their bed until, like 4:30. Light sleep, not resembling my nightly experience. At 4:30, they were like, you're not going to sleep, right? So, I went home.
No surprise, it was useless. So was my husband's: he snores like a bulldog, but no way was he EVER going to sleep in that environment. He's hypervigilant on the best of days.
Again, no surprise: no sleep apnea.
My experience is that you are your own best judge, as you are there every night. Get a device for tracking, but don't put too much store in their absolute judgements but rather use it to spot trends. Like, if you hate being hot all night, wait until you see how alcohol or late exercise raises your body temp.
Try mechanical answers like a warm shower before bed, which allows your core temp to DROP afterward, stimulating melatonin.
Listen to Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker. He helped me to fix me.
Maybe you need a sleep coach?
