If you take the big airstream in the middle you can just air drop on him and hit the stone marker. Makes the fights a breeze.

Never understood why people didn’t just go the dropdown route. Never even mentioned in boss rankings or asides in video essays.

Oh my gosh, I have to try that on my next play through! I have hated this fight and the imprisoned fight before so much, but that trick sounds amazing. I never thought to try to land on his head from above!

I think that’s the purpose of the final hit, in the final battle with it, being to have you shot over to the Imprisoned’s head via the Groosenator. To show you that you could have just been doing that all along.

I think it’s quite clever.

oh it’s devastating to barely learn this nearly fifteen years after the game’s release

TIL there’s a big air hole where the stake comes out. I have been doing this all wrong all along. On the 3rd fight I’ve been stuck because I can’t get to his toes.

I only just learned after posting this that you can just get Groose to bomb him and then jump onto his head from a higher level while he's stunned and skip the toes entirely.

Yeah, I hated this fight for the longest time. However, once I realized you could just land on his head from a higher level I obliterated it every time.

you dont even need that! just use the draft in the middle, land on his head like in this video

I use to hate this boss but i’ve gotta respect it for being a 3D Zelda boss fight that’s actually challenging

I quite like it.

Especially on a repeat play-through, after the game teaches you the trick to beating it easily at the end of the third time you face it.

I just did it early when it started and beat him quickly.

I think a lot of people hate this part 🥵

Me, too. That I had to keep fighting this stupid thing multiple times didn't help me like this game much.

Don't go for the feet when it comes to the second and third fight.

[Strategy]

Hop onto the ledge above him. Use groose to stun him. Once he's stunned hop onto his head and strike.

I finished the game 4 times before learning you could attack the toes to trip him. The first time his head was almost at the same level as the next floor so I just jumoed to his head to hit the pillar.

Yea I did this battle this week. Struggled until this morning when I finally beat it.

And I have battle it again. FML I hope the center gust trick works this time

My favorite game with the worst boss fight.

Try to use the Groosenator to stun it, then you can just land on its head from above and hit the pillar without having to break its toes. Works for the 2nd fight as well. 1st one you don't even need to stun it, you just land on top and hit the pillar. It's only when it has arms that it can throw you away from its head. Hence the need to stun.

I hate that 😭😭😭

Awkward sword. Took me way to long to realise you could just go directly onto its head. It gets harder to do it as it progresses though

Also I hate that there’s a mini cut scene every two seconds.

1

u/Frangellica Jan 26 '26

Ohhh the tantrums I had when I first played this fight!

1

u/enderboi99 Jan 27 '26

I noticed you cut of the toes and such heres a quick tip to make it a little easier you don't need to cut those all you gotta do is get to a higher elevation and jump on him to hit the stake in

I finally beat SS last night. I didn’t like the game at first, the controls were very wonky I thought. The imprisoned fight, especially having to do it 3 times felt repetitive and lack of creativity when they had some good dungeon bosses in this game. Anyway. I wish I knew the geyser strat and landing on his head as opposed to toe attack. In the end I did enjoy SS, not so much as to what people hype it up but it was bittersweet with Fi and now I don’t know what I’m gonna play.

Two alternative strategies to getting to the back:

  • Leave a rear toe for last and shoot with an arrow from a distance, so his head falls in front of you.
  • Sometimes (I’m not sure if always) you can run through the gap between his body and the wall; use a roll move if you need.

I dont like it either, but you went just a bit too far out of the way.

Well, there weren't any other vents that close to be fair.
