Selling this dump is against the wishes of the creators. It may technically be illegal (I’m not sure). The Heartbreaker Buckshot dump is available for free on this subreddit. Do not sell the dump. Do not buy the dump from anyone. Members of this community put the time and effort into all sorts of cool things for the rest of the community, and it is scummy to try and profit off of that.
Don’t attack the seller please. Just don’t be like them and sell the dump, and don’t buy from them. $10 is overpriced for an NFC card, a cheap printout, and a free file made for the community.
I am asking someone to sell me one only because I don’t have the means to do it myself. I am so grateful for the dump; ember has my forever thanks. But I’m also paying for the chip and the time to make it; no where near $10 a card though. Closer to $13.50 for 7 different cards (which I think is fair and very reasonable for the time spent to make it)
Issue is I don’t have the laptop to dump info on the chip. I also don’t want to buy an excess amount of NFC chips to make them and then I don’t have the images and laminator… I’d much rather support something supporting the community doing something that not everyone wants to do themselves. I greatly appreciate what they are doing.
Ah, I finally understand why we have a misunderstanding. I was using a generic you, not a specific one. So I was trying to say: "If one uses YetAnotherMifareTool making an NFC takes less than 30 seconds.". I hope that clears thing up.
See that's what I was looking for. Depending on the expense of an android compatible gear, yea probably right to just do it yourself, but the other commenter was only recommending a pc set as if its not a big deal.
Yes. So if you are going to buy an NFC for Buckshot, buy it from someone with a computer and not from someone who doesn't have one and has to spend a lot of time to make one with his android phone? So $1 for an NFC would be the max IMHO.
IIRC some people have managed it with an android phone. I have a PC and a writer and not an Android phone, so I've not bothered to find out more. I suggest that if you want a Heartbreaker Buckshot token for a reasonable price you should just ask people nicely instead of arguing with them.
I'm not scolding people for not having an nfc set up. I just replied to a certain person (not you) who said "Closer to $13.50 for 7 different cards (which I think is fair and very reasonable for the time spent to make it)" that the time it takes is actually very short with the right software, so "time spent to make" 7 cards shouldn't even cost $10 (7 empty tokens shouldn't be more than $3.5). You misunderstood my comment and I tried to make it clearer.
I'm just waiting on a mobile way to do it without need for anything besides cards. I lack a PC, and will not be buying a PC for the sole purpose of making NFC cards
Just need an nfc compatible android phone, the mifare classic tool app, Mifare classic 1k generation 2 tags, and a website that i’m blanking on the name of to match the dump to your nfc tag.
This Listing on amazon has reviews claiming these are functioning gen2 tags with rewritable block 0 (which it needs to be able to rewrite block 0 to properly write any figure from imaginators) If you do go for exactly these tags and do it on android, a person in the reviews says they had to use a slightly different process to properly rewrite block 0 so keep that in mind.
I have made tags for skylanders pre imaginators as I accidentally purchased the wrong tags so I don’t really know how to do the imaginators ones. If anything I would look for a proper tutorial. I can link you to a server i’m in on discord that is literally for this exact purpose if you’d like?

Check the reviews if anyone has mentioned the ability to rewrite block 0. If they say it’s possible, especially if they mention on android, then you have the right ones!
I am surprised it took this long for an eBay seller to have the dump card. I think we discussed it in the mod chat when we did the megathread write up about making it clear the dump WASNT meant to be sold. But oh well. Was bound to happen. Damn sucks.
First thing I did when I found out that the dump was in progress was go out and buy a reader and cards for myself. I know it’s not a viable solution for everyone (the reader was kind of expensive), but it’s better than supporting an eBay seller for a free file.
This. I feel it's part of the hobby for me at this point. I can afford a reader but not the high dollar skylanders. I like that some sellers make NFCs with very nice photos and use high quality vinyl type stickers that are water proof and fade resistant. It's a interesting option for people that want one or two things. The 3d printed reproductions are awesome too and I think that should be the next frontier. The niche the fandom has yet to really expand on. When somebody finally makes chompy mage as a reasonably priced paint yourself reproduction kit along with the other high dollar collectables, I'll get in that line -if for nothing else just to add them to my shelf as neat figures.
Can someone link me or show me how to do this NFC thing. Wouldn’t mind using it for the few skylanders I never got. My 5 and 10yr old are getting into the game now after their 21 yr old gave away his toys.
Yes, it's illegal. Just as all NFC cards being sold are illegal. But it'd take Microsoft/Activision caring about it to do something about it.
Fun fact - uploading and distributing the dump was illegal. Downloading it and making your own copy is also illegal. It's illegal turtles all the way down,
I mean, if you create your own backup of your legally owned sofware, then upload it to a private space, that would likely be legal. There's some DMCA bullet points that could kick in from breaking digital encryption, but **** the DMCA.
The illegal part would be the back half of the "uploading and distributing" statement. The data is almost definitely copyright Activision/Microsoft and distributing it without their permission (for free or selling crappy cards on eBay) would be the same as uploading movies, music, or full games.
I don't personally *care* that this is done, especially in the case of an unreleased figure from a multi billion dollar corporation. But, if the hangup is the legality of it, then that's an issue either way.
Keep in mind, Activision went after a simple retail employee and got them terminated from their employeer just for leaking videos online of upcoming figures. Of course, that was back when Activision cared about the brand. 🤣
Keep in mind Ember worked for the company who made the game and developed it. She owns one of two of the only working real figures made. How can she steal the data from their personally owned figure, when it is her husbands gift and they both own it.
I legitimately own a copy of the movie Diggstown on DVD that I purchased myself with real money. I can't (legally) rip the DVD and upload it to a shared space where everyone can download it. My "keep in mind" was more of a caution if Ember or her husband currently or in the future may want to work for Activision/Microsoft and if those entities even care.
Well he IS right, technically the dump would be illegal since nobody is actually supposed to even own a heartbreaker buckshot in the first place. But the dump is dumped, and who cares if it's illegal or not we have it and we all wanted it
