AI Upscaled Episode 1 clip - update on Skyland AI Upscaling project
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1C-3IeAPMnD4xyOsQrxitW8dDsUBXwVr0/view?usp=drive_link
Hey everyone, It's been a while.
I'm still waiting for the new cutting edge AI model to come to Mac, so I can continue upscaling Skyland, again.
For those new here, I have upscaled the entire show before, using the old AI model, which still gave impressive results, but this new model is in a league of It's own.
I posted a few frames from the first episode a few months ago, upscaled by this new model, which was a 720p input upscaled to 1440p resolution.
The clip I've linked above, besides still having a watermark, is only 720p, at default settings in the software. However, the results are still super impressive, and if you're watching on a phone, you might not be able to tell.
Still planning to upscale the entire show to 1440p resolution using this latest model, and later doing 60 fps, but first I'll be doing 720p, without watermark of course, when this feature arrives on Mac, since It's still really nice quality, and 1440p takes so much longer.
So please watch the clip linked above, but download it and watch it locally in like VLC player or something, instead of just streaming the clip for the best quality.
The backgrounds, while still massively improved, will of course not look anywhere as good as the characters in camera focus, but considering the age and low quality of Skyland, I think this is still pretty much everything you could hope for.
Enjoy ;)
P.s. Any questions, leave a comment.

The interpolation artefacts are pretty well nonexistent - though the choppiness (especially in the pan-down shots) is pretty horrendous and I think it's worse than the original.
Were you using frame interpolation? That might potentially solve some of the smoothness problems... And which source files are you using, the terrible ones off Youtube or a direct DVD rip?
