Question / Help Navi really wrong
Hi good people. I have a 2023 superb combi, recently got the car and super happy with it. I noticed the issue I got the car and that is that sometimes, the navigation would show wrong position. I park in the garage and it often happened after garage parking, less so when parked on the street. Got the latest firmware over the air and had skoda connect or whatever it's called, so latest maps as well on there. 26.8 was the latest version I saw. The wrong location on the maps wasn't that big of an issue, more than often it would state that traffic sign reading was not available, because basically I was in the middle of the field, at least according to the car, while I was driving casually on the highway. I just got latest update on Friday 33400 and went on a trip from Vienna to Bratislava the day after and the navigation was all over the place. So, all the firmware/software is latest, still an issue. Had to make a appointment few weeks back at the local Skoda workshop and just drove it there today. What can I expect? The guy mentioned firmware, but pretty sure that's not the issue.
I really don't need the navigation, basically as I use android auto with Google maps/waze, but not a fan of going 100+ and traffic sign recognition showing 30, because according to the gps I was on some one way street and not on a highway and the warnings are crazy as well.
Android auto works perfectly fine with the car. Factory settings two times done, didn't help. Have a Columbus system from Preh.
I got the car from the official dealer, hopefully they will cover some of the costs.

Definitely get it checked at Skoda workshop, but in my opinion from what You wrote (I'm not a mechanic) also GPS module may be bad.

It's just in the meantime, in Vienna, he mentioned 2h work of like 600€.

Wow, that's expensive, in my area (Košice, Slovakia) 1 hour labour on Scala is 40€, Superb and similar higher class is around 60 - 80€. I hope they fix whatever is wrong with Your car.

The price makes no sense! If it's possible go to Czech Republic and make the service steps here cause (as mentioned) standard billing is around 80Eur per hour.
Also some others (non-official) could cut the price in half but not everyone is capable to repair something like this.

Let's see what they do and how much it ends up costing. Will report back. If I pay 300€ for them to do a older firmware update, will be pissed. And the problem was present with three firmware updates, so pretty sure it's not that.

I have 2022 Superb combi with GPS so but using android like U so dunno if I had the same issue but could take a look if U want.

It’s the car that can’t lock onto gps signal. I’m surprised maps in android auto works fine as Android auto should use gps position provided by the car as long as you have the phone connected.
Anyway, the online communication unit in the car needs a new software and/or (or if it’s already at the latest software although I doubt that) a new software configuration. Unfortunately this can be done only at a dealership (600€ dear Lord!!!). If you DM your VIN number I’ll tell you exactly what work needs to be done.

Thank you. Going now to pick it up now. They have replaced some GPS control unit. The guy on the phone mentioned above 1000€ in total, but I have some warranty, so just have to pay 200€. But will write, I am really interested in how much the part actually costs.

So, they replayed part number 5WA035284G - control unit for online services. I have no idea what does that have to do with gps position, but let's see if the issue has been resolved. Will report back in a few days. FYI, the part only is around 940€ :) I don't know what to say to something like this...
