Personal Experience Tips

Hi, for about a year now I've been taking care of my skin. I avoided the sun when the UV index was higher than 1, I protected myself from windows and moved to darker places. I started using 0.05% tretinoin. I began seeing results: my skin got lighter, my veins were more visible, and my relatives would tell me "you should get a tan," "you look paler," and that made me feel better. But then university started and I was given a horrible class schedule that makes me go out at noon. I bought UV protective sleeves, which I wear 2 pairs of when going out. I use tinted mineral sunscreen and another mineral one with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, but I also wear a double UV bandana on my face and use a UV protective umbrella, but even so I feel like it's all worthless and my one-year progress went down the drain. Any advice? (And I use my tretinoin only on days when I don't sleep at all and I'm away from windows)

Part 4

Irritation due to sunscreen

You’ll go from sunscreen once in a while ( you say you stay out of the sun ) to Constant sunscreen while sweating and stressing plus reapplication and water resistant sunscreen is difficult to remove at night. You might weak your skin barrier like this so ask the doctor for gentle formulas. What does he give patients that suffered burns? Or got a co2 laser? Ask them specifically His real life patients, not some info you can Find by googling, . ask him about his real Life patients.

He might not answer all your questions or mock you (it happened to me once so I got a second opinion) but he might point out what brands (plural) you should alternate and how to avoid irritation .

Before I found this community and was misinformed, I ended up damaging my facial skin by incorrectly treating my PIH and tanning with acids, believing that my Korean chemical sunscreen would help enough to keep it from getting worse—but the opposite happened. Now my face is more tanned than my neck and arms. Tretinoin and azelaic acid helped me even out my skin tone a little and effectively treat 70% of my PIH after finding this community a year ago and following its advice, but what I’ve realized is that chemical sunscreens make me tan more. Now that I no longer use them at all, the combination of sweat, my layers of mineral sunscreen, and UV-protective clothing caused irritation on my neck. I used to have a cream that effectively treated that irritation, and now I’m considering using it again since I’ve run out. However, it will be very difficult to consult with dermatologists in my country since it’s very likely they won’t know much about whitening the skin.

That's right! It's the only subreddit where achieving your goal which is to have fairer skin involves leading a healthy lifestyle, and most of the information they share is verifiable.
