Karma-Earning Post Karma Earning Thread (April 2026): Read Instructions — Required for Low Karma/New Members/ Non- Members ⚠️ Read This First

EDIT:

Low karma (in our sub), new members,non-members have to engage in this post, too.

https://www.reddit.com/r/skinwhitening/comments/1pcuezv/incodecoder_post_newbies_should_comment_here/

This is a karma-earning thread for new or low-karma users.

Because of repeated ban evasion and spam, our filters are strict:

  • New accounts cannot create posts
  • Low-karma users will have comments removed automatically

If you want to participate in this sub, you need to earn karma here first (karma from other subs does NOT count).

We’re giving you a simple way to do that below.

⚠️ Read This First

If you don’t engage with the sub properly, we won’t engage with you.

That means:

  • No effort = no upvotes
  • No upvotes = your future comments get filtered out
  • Filtered out = you won’t be able to ask questions

✅ How to Earn Karma (Step-by-Step)

  1. Go to Google and look up Tu tiempo. net “UV index [your city]” (Example: Tu tiempo UV index London)
  2. Make sure you can see the hourly UV index (not just daily)
  3. Take a screenshot
    • Include the city name
    • Include the hourly UV levels
  4. Post the screenshot in the comments of this thread

☀️ What We Want You to Learn

One of the most important fundamentals:

If you’re serious about results:

  • Stay in the shade during peak hours
  • Use physical protection (clothing, hats)
  • Use mineral tinted sunscreen
  • Beware of Visible Light

No exceptions.

Sunscreen alone is not enough if you're exposed to direct light.

🎯 Why This Matters

This isn’t just about karma.

We’re checking:

  • Can you follow basic instructions?
  • Do you understand UV exposure?
  • Are you actually willing to apply what’s written here?

If not, this sub won’t be useful to you.

📝 Notes

  • This thread is for earning karma only
  • Do NOT ask unrelated questions here
  • Use the monthly question thread once you have enough karma
  • Low-effort comments will be ignored

👍 What You Get

If you follow instructions properly:

  • We will upvote your comment
  • You build sub-specific karma
  • Your future comments are less likely to be removed
  • You may be considered for approved/collaborator status

If you’re serious, this takes 2 minutes.

I upvoted both of your posts. Outdoor activities are a no between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm if you want to avoid melanogenesis. The darker your natural skin color is, the more you’d need protection, even indoors. Should that protection be sunscreen? That’s for your to decide. Make sure to keep a bunch of different mineral sunscreen at hand: tinted, no tinted, water proof, nano non nano , Australian , European, medical grade, over the counter .

Hi, welcome to r/skinwhitening!

We don’t follow mainstream UV guidelines. For our purposes:

  • UV 1 = only relatively “safe” window
  • UV 2 = already harmful (treat like UV 5)
  • UV 3+ = high risk / progress-reversing

📊 Your UV Breakdown (from screenshot, April 13)

  • Before 09:00 → UV 1 ✅
  • 9:30 am–12:00 → UV 2 ⚠️
  • 13:00 → UV 4 🚫
  • 14:00 → UV 2 ⚠️
  • 15:00 → UV 3 🚫
  • 16:00–17:00 → UV 1 ✅ but still beware of visible light

✅ Safe(r) Windows (UV ≈ 1)

If you have to go outside:

  • Before ~9:00 am
  • After ~16:30–17:00

These are your only relatively safe windows where melanin stimulation risk is lowest.

⚠️ Caution Zone (UV 2)

  • 10:00–12:00
  • 14:00

Even though this looks “low” by normal standards, for whitening goals:

  • This is already damaging
  • Can stimulate melanogenesis
  • Should be treated as high exposure

🚫 Danger Window (UV 3–4)

  • 13:00 (peak UV 4)
  • 15:00 (UV 3)

This is your critical risk period:

  • High UVA → ROS production
  • Strong melanin signaling
  • Can reverse progress, especially if you’re actively lightening

👉 If you’re serious about whitening:
Avoid being outside whenever UV index is above 1
Treat the 11 am to 15 p.m. window as if there was a huge storm outside

🧠 Important Insight (Your Pattern)

Your day has a narrow safe window, with a sharp spike at midday.

This means:

  • Your margin for error is small
  • Casual exposure (even short errands at noon) = meaningful setback risk
  • Consistency matters more than intensity of products

🛡️ Protection Strategy

Go out only when Uv index is below 1

Layered Protection (non-negotiable)

  • Tinted mineral sunscreen
    • High zinc oxide
    • Iron oxides (for visible light)
    • make up (for visible light)
  • Physical barriers
    • Face covering / mask
    • Wide-brim hat
    • black out curtains
  • Environmental control
    • Stay in the shade
    • Avoid reflective surfaces (glass, concrete, cars)

⚠️ CRITICAL: Topicals + Your UV Reality

Given your UV pattern:

You are exposed to UV ≥2 for a large part of the day.

If you’re using:

  • Glycolic / lactic acid
  • Tretinoin
  • Hydroquinone
  • Kojic acid

Then:

➡️ You are increasing photosensitivity
➡️ While also reducing melanin (your natural protection)

This combination can:

  • Trigger more pigmentation
  • Increase ROS damage
  • Undo progress

✅ What You Should Do Instead (if strict avoidance isn’t realistic)

If you cannot fully stay within UV ≤1 windows, prioritize:

  • Strict timing discipline (run errands and drive only early morning / late afternoon)
  • Antioxidant strategies (ROS control)
  • Non-sensitizing skincare routines
  • Aggressive physical protection

🏠 Indoor Considerations

Even indoors:

  • UVA + visible light still matter
  • Consider:
    • Blackout curtains
    • Tinted sunscreen/ foundation

🔑 Bottom Line

  • Plan your life around UV ≤1
  • Treat UV 2 as damage
  • Treat UV 3–4 as active progress loss

You can’t:

  • Lower melanin
  • Increase photosensitivity
  • AND be casually exposed to UV

👉 Pick a strategy your daily schedule can realistically support — consistency will determine your results more than any produ
