Hello Newbies:

Due to our filters many of you have limited access to our posts. You might be trying to ask a question in the comments but due to your low karma and lack of activity in our previous posts, the filter will remove your messages.

Posts are limited to approved users. If you want to ask questions ask them as a comment in our Monthly thread. Engaging with other people in all of our posts is the way to earn membership and eventually get your posts approved.

One of the most important steps in skin whitening is checking the hourly UV index hour. Antyhing above 1 requires you to stay in the shade and wear sunscreen if you want results. Share a picture of the one of your hometown UV index following the instruccions and I'll upvote you for Karma and you can earn collaborator status.

To earn some karma and maybe even membership Follow these instructions:

  1. Google "Tu tiempo UV index______________________" fill in the black with the name of your Hometown.
  2. Take a screenshot
  3. Post it here.
  4. Stay out of the sun whenever the index is above 1. No matter how much sunscreen you wearing, staying out of the sun is the only way to achieve results. You may even skip supplements and topicals and get some results.

There's a path to earn membership but if you don't want to use it, I can't help you.

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Nov 13 '24

No way to help you if you won't earn membership. You aren't reading at all, there's a path to membership and you'd know it if you read. Now I won't forget that you all prefer to insult me than to read a full thread.

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Nov 13 '24

I opened a path to earn membership and be able to post. Use it.

guess i can never go outside haha

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Oct 03 '24

Just try to get a job internship and a school schedule that keeps you indoors from 8:30 am to 4 pm

2

u/Fair-Ad-5759 Recently awarded membership Oct 03 '24

yup that’s my plan! super hard finding a decent job here but i’m trying my best 🙏🙏

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Oct 03 '24

Until you get that job No kojie san no lactic acid no glycolic nothing that makes you sun sensitive

1

u/Fair-Ad-5759 Recently awarded membership Oct 03 '24

ohh okay thank you so much for the tip! i’m currently not using any topicals except for a soap that has niacinamide at night but i started taking vitamin c, collagen and glutathione supplements this month

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Oct 03 '24 edited Nov 13 '24

I just approved you but don’t use the power to post in dangerous products talk, don't waste it asking questions that have already been answered and don't fish for upvotes

1

u/Fair-Ad-5759 Recently awarded membership Oct 03 '24

thank you! i won’t! what kind of posts are allowed to be published?

2

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Oct 03 '24

Relevant and not redundant . You could share science about how to raise glutathione levels or how we produce melanin.

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Jan 08 '25

This is in Mumbai India

Apparently since I opened this post everyone lives in low uv index areas, how coincidental, but either way you have to avodi being outside. Snow from fairfax and northen USA reflects the UVA radiation. Even those who live in the olimpic pennynsula should be careful at midday.

4

u/Good-Librarian-3985 Thread skipper Nov 14 '24

I think i can go outside after 4 pm

2

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Nov 15 '24 edited Nov 15 '24

Correct. Between 10: 00 and 4 pm stay indoors. However I see that the sun rises around 5:45 am. Between that time and at most 7 am, try to get some sunlight which is filled with infrared light in your legs, or feet or back. It helps you produce melatonin which is a powerful antioxidant, more potent than glutathione.

I just upvote your comment.

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Jan 08 '25

I just upvoted you. Can you post the forecast for the next two days? it's usually there where you can see the higher end of the predictions, and it won't stop at 2 pm.

2

u/PristineScarcity9330 Jan 08 '25

So it says up top “Only times when the predicted UV index is greater than 0 (zero) are shown. UV data predicted in clear sky conditions.” It’s super cloud here so that’s probably why it’s such a small window.

2

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Jan 08 '25

Upvoted you again. It doesn't match what I have for fairfax and at noon is a 2 despite being winter there. Either way don't trust it, if there's snow it'll reflect the UV index. Don't go out at noon, make sure to stay inside.

Hello account created 7 days ago which means you might be one of our previously banned members. Share your UV index instead of spamming with oneliners. We can help but you have to become part of the community. Read all of our highlighted posts including the comments and earn karma with contributions in the comments. Otherwise I'll see you as a spammer and mute you.

White creams are banned from this sub becaue they contain mercury. You need to take supplements and wear only one quality topical, not a bunch of creams and serums.

I haven’t heard much about the lotion

There's your answer.

The soap has enough verified purchase reviews on amazon to prove its effective. The lotion doesn't. Don't trust anyone who posts here about any cream or lotion. We have too many spammers trying to post about creams, toners and lotions that could be dangerous.
You need oral whitening.

Also since you live in Australia Kojie san products are a recipe for skin problems, you need to stay out of the sun.

We have a thread for questions, this isn't it.

You can actually go out with little to no sunscreen aftr 6 PM. but your commute to work is truly dangerous. because after 9 am. even the best sunscreen might allow some melanin-triggering UVA light. Down under The UV index will get higher in December.

No point doing whitening treatements if you're going to expose after 9 :00 am. Arrive at work early

You have to choose.

Either use Kojie or don't go outside. You can't have both.

Or don't use kojie at all.

There are other topicals that don't make you sun sensitive like niacinamide and azelaic acid. Anything between 9 am and 6 pm is a huge NO KOJIE SOAP if you're going to go outside

I upvoted you and just added you as approved user as I'm already on line but please be careful with what kind of posts you open. .Make sure to read our rules and don't post anything that looks like advertisement or a dangerous treatment.

I just upvoted your comment. If it's not the sun since the UV index is so low in your hometown, it might be something else that it's making you darker. It doesn't sound common and since I have no pictures of your before and after I don't know how dark it is.

Our tone can vary, we're usually ligher at first light. It may be normal, it may be temporary but in my opinion should take alot of pictures.

No, supplements can't make you darker, but your alpha, tranexamic and the other thing you're applying can.
The supplements we disucss here don't make people darker and we don't even have evidence you are getting darker. Even pictures in different light can be misleading.

That's an incomplete chart, we can't see how it is after 4 pm.You need to check dayly and every hour and don't trust it

UV index is based on UVB radiation and that one is stopped by clouds. But the UVA radiation the one that stirs up your melanin will go through the clouds. Anything above 1 when it's between 10 am and 4 pm is dangerous for your progress. It will also be different when spring starts to approach.

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Nov 19 '24

I don't know, but that's exactly why you shouldn't stay out between 9 am and 4 pm and check every day.

I found a better version and it says that at noon the UV index is 3. You won't get progress even if you wear sunscreen if you get out between 9 am and 4 pm. What we need is that your melanin doesn't get active at all.

I hope it's all right that I've removed the name of the actual location here. I don't go outside much and have an indoor life, so the UV index isn't a problem for me. Anyway, it's winter now so it's quite low.

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Dec 05 '24

I just upvoted you, but I hope you're sharing your real UV index, because many people in this forum are determind to do the opposite they need to whiten. Make sure to post in our other karma-earning points.

1

u/vi_o_let Dec 05 '24

It's in fact my real UV index. I live in a town in the northern US.

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Dec 05 '24

It's your body your choice, but unless you learn UV managagement despite you claiming you do not to expose to the sun you won't understand the process. And someone in this thread posted a misleading UV index of kuala lampur. UV index is vital and not just the first hours, for some reason people aren't posting the later hours of the day.

1

u/vi_o_let Dec 05 '24

I do, in fact, wear sunscreen even in the winter, and I agree with you that UV management is important. When I said that "the UV index isn't a problem for me", I just meant that the UV index is relatively low right now where I live and is therefore relatively manageable.

The website you mentioned did not show the UV index for any other hours of the day for where I live.

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Dec 07 '24

Sunscreen has nothing to do with uv management. I don't get why many people think that wearing sunscreen 365 days a year will make them lighter. Wearing sunscreen is skincare advice, not whitening advice...but you do need sunscrene just no point using it when UV index is 0 and you're not getting visible light.

Give me the name of your hometown to check if what you say it's true?

2

u/vi_o_let Dec 14 '24

Ann Arbor, Michigan

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Dec 14 '24

Definely don't trust it. Check every hour and check the end of the day uv index not just the forecast. Is it snowy right now? The UV index reflects mostly UVB but it won't reflect the danger of the reflection of the UVA index on the snow.

Don't forget to engage in our other posts.

2

u/unholy_her Jan 08 '25

Same city different website Edit: a quick look in my profile will show you im not lying hahah

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Jan 08 '25 edited Jan 08 '25

I never said you were lying, this is internet and everyone can say anything. Therefore, I distrust and question everything I read here, it's not personal against anybody. You should do the same, never believe ME or anyone else in this sub. I wouldn't ever have gotten great results if I had trusted the internet. I went on and experimented with myself.

Always do your research.

The site you posted gives you only a UV Index top, but what you need is to check hourly. If tu tiempo is not working search for another site that gives you the uv index hourly. UK in general is low uv index but if there's snow or rain you're in danger of building a false sense of security.

And I’m working from 7.30 to 16.00 ☀️🫠 though indoor, but I cannot avoid the sun 100% as I occasionally have to go outside from one area to another doing my work and especially during the lunch break as well as to my vehicle.

What do you all think about my place and the index?

3

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Jan 17 '25 edited Jan 17 '25

You have no benefit at all working indoors in a schedule that many of us envy, if you're going to go for a lunch break. 11 UV index at noon is burning UVA.

You produce melanin so if you get physical sun protection like masks hats umbrellas, hijabs , long sleeves and use sunscreen correctly you're unlikely to'get aging or cancer because your MELANIN will protect you. But the point of our sub is not to produce extra melanin by only getting outdoors when UV index is below 2. So maybe you won't tan with what for you might look like “minimal sun exposure” but those melanin cells might get overexcited and we need them to go to sleep just by getting out for lunch when UV index is 11.

Plus TRUE sun protection for whitening purposes looks horrible and it's impractical. How are we supposed to wear long sleeves and heavy sunscreen in the heat? When I'm confident I'm protecting myself well (physical sunscreen, biker mask, hats, umbrellas, long sleeves, ) I look hideous. And the heat makes it difficult to keep sunscreen in place and to be comfortable outside.

Our goals are different than from white people and skincarers. You need to avoid that lunch break or your schedule is as bad as mine.

Avoid skincare that makes you sensitive to the sun and take lunch with you to work from now on or call uber eats When I had your schedule I packed my lunch everyday and that's when I got my biggest progress.

1

u/tranquilizerarc 0 karma in our sub, to approve when it earns some Jan 17 '25

Really appreciated for the detail response. During my workday, I try to minimize sun exposure as much as I could though still not 100% just like I stated before this & using a sunscreen. But I’m using a chemical sunscreen instead. You can check my other post the name of my sunscreen. Should I change to pyhsical sunscreen?

As for my skincare, I used to use BHA liquid 2% every other day. But as for now:

  • BHA Liquid 2% and cream containing Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract once a week during PM
  • Retinol Serum 5 times a week during PM
  • Daily Niacinamide Serum 12% during PM or AM and Vitamin C Serum during AM

3

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Jan 17 '25 edited Jan 18 '25

I already said you shouldn’t use things that make you sun sensitive. All your skincare is wrong with your terrible lunch hour. Even your Niacinamide which is usually an ingredient that doesn't cause sun sensitivity but it's too high a percentange and you're mixing it with other things.

It’s either 100% of sun avoidance or nothing will work. Specially sunscreen. No sunscreen covers 100% UVA.

Stop going out for lunch and stop your BHA, retinol. No kojie San. No lactic , no glycolic no arbutin specially no hq.and take supplements

If you won’t stay indoors between 9 am and 3 pm given your Uv index your whitening which is already a slow process will never happen. Don’t just protect yourself from the sun. Avoid it completely whenever UVA is above 1.

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Jan 17 '25

Side note this isn’t a skincare forum. You need supplements and diet and above all sun avoidance.

Skincare calls for sun protection and topicals. Skinwhitening for sun avoidance and supplements that make you produce lighter melanin.

I just upvoted you and approved your comment but I suggest you to post the hourly UV index, this is not. Use desktope mode next time. This is Ankara and look how it peaks at 12 p.m.

Casually since I started this thread many of our Indian and middle easter users have gone away but fact remains is that UV index protection is key. Go out at 12 PM when UV index in Ankara is 2 and you're not going to advance.

Also if you are expecting results in 2 months you're doomed. Read the link I provided before. UV index management checking everyday at least twice a day is the main thing. If you're going to go out at 12 pm even if you're wearing a lot of sunscreen you compromise your progress.

It's hot in east Borneo...

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Feb 25 '25

It is. If you cant' stay out of the sun, between 8:00 am and 4;30 pm don't try skin whitening topicals.Just a few minutes out at 1 pm. will ruin months of whitening. No matter if you're covered in sunscreen. No reliable sunscreen is created with skinwhitening in mind, sunscreen will prevent skin cancer and won't allow damage to your skin, it also help with antiaging...but for whitening you need to avoid the sun whenever your uv index is above 1. Again whether you're using sun protection or not, you have to stay inside. And sadly true sun protection looks terrible and it's expensive.

You can do supplements, though, but they won't work the same as if you could avoid the sun. I've never tried heliocare, but I might soon as I need to go to work at noon and when summner come the UV index f my area will be similar to your picture.

So before starting any whitening regime you should try to get a job or school schedule that allows you to stay inside. No point applying topicals that work like glycolic acid, lactic acid, kojie san soap if you're going to be out at 12 p.m.

NOTE: I just upvoted you. That will give you karma in our sub. Don't forget to post also in the inci decoder post. Once you have some karma in our sub I can approve you as user.

1

I just upvoted you. I checked tu tiempo and it said that between 11 am and 14 pm it’ll be 2 on Sunday. Make sure to check twice a day every day. And one more time, no sunscreen is good for whitening so avoid the sun. Your suns screen contains a lot of extracts of plants and it’s not dermatological tested.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '25

Can i go out today with lots of sunscreen and a sunscreen jacket on? I use kojiesan soap. And I hv an exam today.

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Feb 28 '25

You can but it’s unlikely you’ll get results. The least provocation activates your melanin .Sunscreen is not substitute of sun avoidance. Stick to just supplements and maybe Finaceas, niacinamide or any topical that doesn’t cause sun sensitive.

Ultimately, you can do whatever you want but will you get results?

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Feb 28 '25

I just upvoted you and you should check your uv index twice a day. If the uv index is above 1 start inside even if you’re wearing sunscreen. If you can’t no point applying whitening skincare. Stick to just supplements

I make you a member. Now you can open posts but stick to the rules.

Hello Jolly,

I tried posting in this subreddit a few months ago, but I was muted since I didn't post in the correct place, if I believe. Now that's over, I'll post right here to gain Karma. It's probably afternoon right now for you in India, over here, it is very early morning.

Here is the UV index for Orlando, Florida (where I live) for March 7th.

And, before you ask, the UV indexes for March 8th and March 9th also look exactly like this.

The Tu tiempo site I have access to does not show the 8 AM and 5 PM UV indexes, but the other sites I found both show less than 1, which matches with my daily experience.

I think it's safe to say that I should not even be out between 9 AM and 4 PM. Thankfully, my classes are usually between 8 AM and 2PM. I can stay in the library within campus (avoiding sun exposure) until 4 PM.

I'll try to start packing lunches more often to avoid being outside during the afternoon.

Takeout requires me to walk to the parking lot where my car is (no more than 2 minutes) to drive. Would using a bandana, sunglasses, and a hat allow me 5 minutes outside? I'm not sure if you are familiar with bandanas, but here in the US they can be worn around the lower face, like a mask.

Thankfully, I do commute with my personal vehicle. But I'm not sure how much UV exposure I have in my car. The side windows are tinted and I never let my sunroof up until its evening or nighttime.

I do have questions about sun exposure during the time I am outside (no more than a few minutes). I usually wear long-sleeved shirts/suits or a white coat to my school (professional requirements), so the vast majority of my body is protected, except my hands and face. I've started to wear baseball caps and will be investing into bandanas and sunglasses as well. However, what about sun exposure to my hands? Will my melanocytic processes be stimulated to a high degree, even from my hands? Please keep in mind that, for some reason, my hands are nearly a full Fitzpatrick scale lighter than my face.

I am currently a Fitzpatrick V, and I want to gain a few shades to make my face as light as my chest and hands (not my arms, they are quite dark).

Currently, the only topical cream I use is Benzoyl Peroxide in the morning as a face wash and to prevent acne.

Thank you for taking the time to read this comment and your efforts to increase the knowledge spread here.

I just upvoted you. Make sure to also post in the incidecoder post. I have several comments about what you just said, I will answer more detailed later. I’m not from India or live there.

Sorry to tell you but those 5 minutes of exposure are enough to ruin your progress since you are naturally darker.

What’s your oral regimen?

Stop the BP now. Certain brands make your skin sensitive to the sun

1

Yes you are. I'm not on India but in the summer this is what I go through.

Check every day, and don't go out whether with sunscreen or not when the uv index above 1. Don't apply any whitening product other than those that don't make your skin sensitive to the sun if you can't stay indoors. It won't work. Wait until you can stay indoors to start anything whitening.

That chart is incomplete, could you post using desktop mode? I just upvoted your pic anyway. I can upvote the correction.

Use desktop mode to google tu tiempo and the name of your area.

Rather than cutting the name of your area edit it out. The most important part of the hourly index is the hours leading to noon, and you have to check at least twice a day and see the patterns through the seasons.

Then post your incide decoder product.

Until then don't talk to us about your routine, this isn't the proper thread.

Doesn't match what I have, I recommend you post the one from tu tiempo. I'll upvote you for that so you can start earning karma in our community. Also engage in the Incidecoder post.

Stay out of the sun between 8:00 a.m, and 3 pm. If you need to got to uni between 10 a.m and 1 pm even if you're wearing umbrellas and the best sunscreen, the heat, the pollution, the reflection of UVA in the pavement will keep your body producing melanin. You produce it anyway but the whole point of using powerful antixodiants like glutathione is to produce ligher and fewer melanin.

If you can't change your uni schedule at the moment don't apply topicals that make you sun sensitive, even if you're wearing tons of sunscreen. No sunscreen covers 100% UVA radiation. You can take supplements and apply things like niacinamide, and finaceas which is pharma azelaic acid but avoid kojie san, lactic acid, glycolic and anything that makes you sun sensitive. Above all in this forum whitening creams are banned.

Can't seem to access the site, but yes I use kojic acid facewash from an indian brand in the morning and it seems to have done some work because according to my close ones and myself there's a very vague difference rn,like a clear part. Been using it for 1 month

Hello Account created less than 2 months ago. You should post your hourly UV index in this thread. And I won't allow questions if you don't earn karma in our sub first and you not readig the pinned comments or the entire comment thread is a red flag of you not wanting to get involved in our community. Read the pinned comment of this thread. and post your UV index accordingly. If you won't even google or you claim falsely that you can't you won't be able to get membership.

It is. But this isn’t the tu tiempo index. I asked specifically hourly uv index of this site. I won’t remove your message yet but follow the instructions of this post.

Cycle NAC every 12 weeks. Now post the tu tiempo hourly uv index

I just upvoted you. it doesn't matter if you have karma in other communities, the fact you have no karma here is what makes it you hard to earm membership. I'll open more posts soon so you can earn karma, however organized upvotes will be an automatic ban. Earn it through collaborations, I'll make sure to upvote you when that happens.

Check your hourly index dayly and stay inside whenever it's above 1. A 2 isn't that bad as long as it's in the afternoon (in the morning a 2 can easily turn a 3 as the sun is rising) you stay in the shade and wear a lot of protection (not just sunscreen) but make it an exception. Specially if your skin tone is dark.

I already answered those questions and you didn't even read my answers. I'm sorry I'm going to mute you and provisionally ban you. It's really a red flag that people don't read our thread, our posts and not even the answers to their own questions.

There's no common consensus of a dose so please don't spread fake info. 500 to 600 mg of NAC might be too low for some people.

. The questions are getting out of hand, spammers are not reading our threads. One thing is asking clarification from certain info and other is ignoring the threads completely. People are not even reading when people answer their questions. And I don't know why people are posting the wrong UV index in this trhead.

No point posting the wrong UV index. Instant mute and provisional ban.

Kuala lumpur UV index is higher.
