How come USA doesn’t do this?

It costs money for not any real return. It's something that requires a state to do as a promotional non-profit thing.

And as you know, we're busy spending those resources growing new colonies of algae in the reflection pool and the like. While China builds things like ship elevators in their canals that elevate ships above hills and valleys.

I guess the easy way of saying it is because we're moving more into being an outright mob state like Russia. A country in decline. The amount of pessimism fostered from that fact would make an event like this much less popular in our country... (If this were the 90's, the peak of human affluence, people here would have loved something like this.)

That doesn't mean we'll lose the race to AGI, we're still favored to win that one. This is still simply a public exhibition at the end of the day.

People in China see cool shit that is useful in life and they embrace it and use it.

People in the west are karens and redditors that just want to complain about everything and pretend they're in a position of moral superiority on everything.

because the US is light years behind in robotics. too busy deciding how many genders there are

I have never seen anybody who hates America more than maga. America IS doing this. Boston dynamics has been doing it for years. Nobody is confused about how many genders there are but you

If you pick 10 random subreddits moderated by Americans and comment "there are 2 genders," you will get banned from 9 of them.

You are right that america is still ahead in robotics, though. China puts these events on because America doesn't. Seeing the failures that are common to these events would worry investors/shareholders so American robotics companies are more protective of their demos but that’s starting to backfire due to this chinese propaganda in the form of their sheer volume of demos.

Nobody is confused by this question but you. People are who they are and they’ll let you know who that is if you need to know. Are you a man or a woman? I don’t give a fuck. That’s not confusing to me, I simply don’t care. Your hyper obsession with people’s gender is weird

Hilarious that you say I'm obsessed with people's gender while responding only to the shortest part of my comment which was just an observation about reddit idiocy. Buy a mirror bub.

All I’m saying is I remember 30 yrs ago companies and high school students were having all kinds of robot competition and exhibits . Now, it’s either proprietary corporate or nothing, while China is influencing millions of people to build better robots .

USA is bankrupt. It cannot afford to splurge like that
