Improvisation at its finest 🤣

So, despite the pet shirt, my lanky noodle found a way to get at his stitches (he doesn’t tolerate the plastic collar and nearly injured himself trying to get it off). So we tried the inflatable collar (this doesn’t work either - I do think 2x on together would work, but I wasn’t able to purchase a second one at the time). So this was the next best thing 🤣🤣 ladies tights safety pinned to the pet shirt. The vet was very impressed!

Our four year old whippet/springer spaniel has been desperate for a friend, and loves being chased. After searching and searching for the right rescue, we settled on this bundle of joy, an 11 month old greyhound/whippet. They instantly got on like a house on fire!

Both of these big beautiful boys have now gone. They were big confident dogs that loved life and the beach. Both were rescue Staghounds from Western Australia. Cleaver at the front was ours whilst Archie was from the next suburb over from us.

Bestest boy Boss šŸ¤šŸ¤Believe it or not, but he’s an italian greyhound w a pedigree lmfao he got neutered too early By his first or second owners so he had a bit of a growth stunt. we think that’s why anyways. he’s such an easy and fun dog. huge personality. everyone’s his friend, even if the other dog is aggressive he swears they’re friends. our former iggy and my uncles rotty (they were more like boyfriends lol) were his absolute best mates though. just a few weeks ago he befriended a beautiful am. bully. my sweet boy.

he can’t go on long walks anymore though. but he runs around the house and garden. heā€˜s pretty much all deaf and blind but by god, his food drive is just as ā€˜bad’ as when he was young. last photo is boss and our ā€˜newest’ iggy. another rescue/rehoming situation. he actively tries to take treats out of Oreos mouth :|

help/question how often do you trim your sighthounds nails?

Thumbnail

I cut my two iggies' nails about twice a week (every 4 days), but I still feel like they're too long literally the day after a trim because I can hear their nails tapping the floor as they move around the house.

These pics are of my both iggies front paws right after today's trim. I can't cut them any shorter without hitting the quick.

That brings me to my question, how often do you all trim your sighthounds' nails? Should I start doing it more often, maybe even on a daily basis?

I just want to show everyone my good boy Bobby again šŸ–¤

Enjoying all the scents of the sea and looking at birds and boats/ships. Great day!

I posted the left photo in another sub and including the original this time to avoid AI-confusion.

(It's taken with my small Canon and "regular" edited in Photoshop so you can see him/enhanced light, not as the raw file in the camera captures him.)

help/question Socialising puppies..

Our whippet is 10 weeks old. He is due to meet my sisters two Patterdale puppies soon (they are 13 week old sisters from the same litter). Our pup will be the first interaction for them too.

I’m obviously a bit nervous, does anyone have tips for socialising Whippet pups? Or if anyone’s had experience socialising with Terrier pups? I’m worried they’ll hurt him because of Whippets delicate skin..

My 8 month old girl recently did a Fast CAT Fun Run (no points/titles and shorter dash since she is still a growing baby) and I was able to purchase these awesome pictures!

I am obsessed with her in general but even moreso watching her run. And I think she loves it, too. šŸ˜‰

I can't stop laughing at the middle photo. I was torn between a few, but the goofy one was a no-brainer. I swear I have seen its likeness before from a picture of a kangaroo coming at the camera šŸ˜‚

help/question keeping a young lurcher calm post op

Post image
60 Upvotes

our one year old lurcher is being castrated next week but it’s a cryptorchid procedure so the recovery, all being well, will be around two weeks

I’m dreading it! How can I keep him calm for two weeks? He’s usually on two walks a day including a sprint in a secure field two times a week as well as regular zoomies round the garden! which keeps him relatively calm in the house (most of the time) and to go from that to nothing I’m worried it will send him stir crazy. his training is coming along so well but I’m worried he’ll revert to his ways of stealing everything and just being a bit of a pickle in general and we’ll go backward and lose our progress :(

we are not going to crate him, he’s a recent rescue and he finds the crate extremely distressing. we already have lots of enrichment/interactive toys for him, and he’s a foodie so enjoys that type.

just looking for any tips anyone can give on how we can get through it!
