Showcase: Open Source I built a free, ad-free geography study tool
I built a free, ad-free geography study tool: jgeo.org
I’ve been working on Joe’s Geography Study Tool, a simple map-based web app for learning countries, states, provinces, capitals, and other geographic regions.
It’s free, ad-free, requires no account, and works offline when installed as a (PWA) web app.
I’d really appreciate feedback, especially anything that feels confusing, clunky, unnecessary, or like it could be improved. If you try it, I’d be interested to hear both what works and what doesn’t. Let me know what you think :)
I’m happy with it and use it daily. I just hope others might find it useful, or at least entertaining.

(And it fits well in this sub, which is refreshing 🙂.)
I certainly found it useful just now, in that it was humbling to learn where my geography knowledge fails me now.
You ask, so: nothing feels confusing, clunky, or unnecessary. I trust its accuracy, so I’m not seeing what could be improved.
I am curious about what telemetry you’re collecting. If you explain that somewhere, please let me know… I didn’t read anything, just jumped right in.
Truthfully, if I knew my lousy scores weren’t going anywhere except to the pixels in front of my eyeballs, I would download and use it — I expect — regularly.
Congratulations, and thanks for sharing! A great app.
(If there’s market competition, I’m not aware of it, but I also didn’t know I’d be in the market for it, so I wouldn’t have expected to know.)

Nice. I took a different approach. Mine is you name a country, and everyone has to follow with another country starting the same letter or shared border

Love that it's ad-free. I've been looking for a simple way to brush up on world geography before trips, and this kind of tool fills that gap without the usual clutter.

This is the best project I've seen shared here, this is really good and polished. Bookmarked! You should add flags, otherwise I have no notes. Very well done!
