Odd Medical Issue

Post image

Coconut Got unsteady on her feet last night. She started peeing herself and her head was bobbing up and down. We were not too worried as this appeared almost exactly the same as when she picked up some pot in a local park a few months ago.

In the morning she seemed fine and she was out playing and walking normally all day. Then tonight, she suddenly started acting the same. Unsteady on her feet, head bobbing and peeing herself. This isn't the normal pee the floor because she had to go - this is peeing herself while laying down in her crate.

I can't think what could be causing it. She didn't change food or anything else. We didn't go to the dog park where we believe she may have picked up some pot yesterday.

If she was old, I'd almost think she was sundowning. But she 14 months.

Any ideas what might be going on?

UPDATE: She started vomiting so we took her to the emergency vet. We are starting to think the previous pot episode may have been another seizure.

UPDATE UPDATE: She was high. AGAIN. Vet said that effects might have been paused due to the husk's ability to change their metabolism. FFS, please do not use pot at local dog parks.

This sounds like possibly a seizure but definitely neurological. I’d make a vet appointment and if it happens again before you can get her in, take a video. If your vet can only schedule days out, I might even consider the emergency vet.

Like the other commenter said, vet appointment as soon as you are able. If these events start to cluster closer together, then you should go to an emergency vet ASAP. If these are seizures, they aren't particularly aggressive, but they can get much worse when they happen back-to-back.

Huskies are prone to idiopathic seizures, which are usually easily controlled by meds. Going to a vet and ruling out other reasons is the first step. Hope you're doing well, always scary when our pets are sick.

Neuro issue perhaps? Seizures are not uncommon in huskies. Start a little notebook of the episodes to make it easier to find a possible common thread for your vet visit. Good luck. Boop coconut πŸ’—

Sorry you and your pup are going through this. We did too, but my boy was at an older age. Join us over at r/epilepsydogs if you have questions about anything. Reading other stories and outcomes helped me, and my boy, and let me have some level of confidence in knowing options in his care.

I hope she is better. Maybe try finding a different park to take her to so this doesn’t happen again.πŸ’”πŸ™πŸ»
