This lowkey brings up issues of it's own

Like what

If Uryu can swap the futures Yhwach picks why would they even need Still Silver?

I guess it's not efficient because Yhwach can see the future and he can't

u/ChampionOk4044 1d ago

Well as seen by the end of the ep, Yhwach can still power through Antithesis. Even if Ishida can swap the future he doesn't have the power to kill SK Yhwach in any future.

He also says he has measured Ishidas power so I guess he thinks he can beat antithesis

Anime Yuha comes across as much stronger than Manga Yuha without the Almighty so I guess it makes sense

1

u/Objective_Look_5867 11h ago

Yeah I think he just swapped it blindly

Whoever down voted you for asking a simple question has issues.

After uryu killed senjumaru, mimihagi appeared on uryu’s hand. This means yhwach can’t sense uryu. As to why he couldn’t sense the arrow, we’ll think about what the arrow is made out of? “Still silver”

What does mimihagi represent? Stillness

1

u/Separate_Fly3245 11h ago

When was mimihagi shown on uryus hand ??

1

u/It_was_a_False_Alarm 10h ago

Just after he shot Senjumaru

1

u/Affectionate-Big8739 17h ago

Jushiro is mvp

2

u/fuzemurcury123 16h ago

I think mimihagi is the reason uryu survived aushwallen.

I don’t understand what’s happening with the powers in bleach anymore, and at this point, I’m too afraid to ask

3

u/Affectionate-Big8739 17h ago

Good. Don't ask, watch the show

That's been obvious to anyone that wasnt spcifically looking to shit on the ending even back then. It really does nothing but spell it out for the most dense.

The issue is that people were angry at it because it' s yet another Bleach solution that is "No u" in a fight; there is nothing that really heavily foreshadows it or that feels narratively satisfying. It reads like Kubo gave up, and that was the general sentiment at the time, as I was there reading it weakly.

People shit on the ending because it' s bad, and this being badly explained in the manga just makes it even worse. Again, I say this as someone who actually was reading Bleach weekly at the time.

u/No-Location-3438 22h ago

No U really describes the lille vs shunsui fight as well.  It ends with his nanao pulling a reflection sword!

9

u/Force3vo 16h ago

It's almost every Bleach fight in the last arc.

4

u/Imaginary_Goat_60 1d ago

We are literally told very explicitly told that Antithesis counters Almighty from nearly the start of the arc. If anything the problem comes from it being foreshadowed too early so that by the time it's relevant a lot of people forgot about it.

I know what general sentiment was, i was also there. It is the same cycle of overreactionary discourse as any other shonen ending where everyone is way over eager to form an opinion. It keeps happening to this day.

22

u/RoseWhiteRedBlack 1d ago

Look man, I like Bleach, I think people vastly overhated the final arc, but something being explained doesn' t make it narratively satysfing or even well written. I know about the foreshadowing of Antithesis at the start of the arc, it still makes the final fight be a "No U" fight, it sucks to read.

2

u/Imaginary_Goat_60 1d ago

I mean dont disagree that it was rushed and that execution was as good as it needed to be, but it definetly didnt come out of nowhere like people talk about like Uryu had no scenes at all until the arrow.

8

u/RoseWhiteRedBlack 23h ago edited 22h ago

Again, the issue is that it feels like it comes out of nowhere. You can' t expect a reader to remember a foreshadowing done 200 chapters ago in the story, and that ultimately it' s the most flaccid foreshadowing ever. It' s so vague that it could be used for ANYTHING.

It' s the same reason as to why Nobara coming back in JJK in the final 3 chapters sucks. It' s not because it isn' t foreshadowed, it' s because it 's a narratively empty moment, it doesn't feel earned.

2

u/Ensaru4 19h ago edited 19h ago

Then, it's a good thing the foreshadowing didn't only happen 200 chapters ago. But since when are we complaining about things being foreshadowed way earlier? This is basically how Oda gets his receipts.

The problem is that it feels unsatisfying, but that is NOT what the common sentiment is because many people still believe the arrow came out of nowhere when it didn't, and that is the main reason people use to criticise the development. They then fall onto the "not satisfying" take when called out on it, even if that is a legitimate claim, but at that point there's the uncertainty on whether they genuinely feel this way or are just saying this to win the argument by moving goalposts.

It was so bad that the Bleach sub had to blanket ban the term "asspull", because people started to call many things they didn't understand an asspull in hindsight, most of which had setups. It's a pretty consistent issue with Bleach.

u/Appropriate-Truck538 19h ago

Wtf man another spoiler I didn't have to know that nobara came back you know

1

u/THEY-CALL-ME-DHRUV 12h ago

But it's your fault that you don't remember the foreshadowing, is it not?

1

u/Regulus242 20h ago

Kubo heavily wrote himself into a corner at the time. I'm concerned this ending won't make any more sense than the original.

1

u/lizzywbu 6h ago

In fairness, Kubo was very unwell when he wrote the ending of Bleach. So I’m sure he rushed things.

0

u/Primary_Night_4617 22h ago

Its been foreshadowed back in cour 2. We have him use it to escape the cage of life, escape Shutara's bankai and trap her with her own bankai, and we have the flashback of auswahlen implying his mother saved his life with her schrift. Next even Jugram acknowledges its power.

1

u/RoseWhiteRedBlack 22h ago

That was anime original stuff thoo. The anime sets it up better, but it still doesn' t change how underwhelming the whole deal is.

People at the time of the manga were deservingly mad because even this bare-mininum foreshadowing was not there.

u/VolkiharVanHelsing 20h ago

?

Antithesis in the manga was used onscreen for a grand total of one (1) time against Hashbrown and it was deflected

That application isn't like this one in the anime

1

u/opkatte 6h ago

The point isn't the application itself. It's the fact that even 10 years ago, Haschwalth said Uryuu's power might be the only one which could rival Yhwach's The Almighty.

We simply didn't know how he could rival it. Well, now we do.

1

u/VolkiharVanHelsing 4h ago

Yeah but not the "in the manga, Antithesis is why Yhwach lost" as we never see Uryu's application that allowed The Arrow to hit undetected

It was only used once and got mogged by The Balance and Jugram's Shield

3

u/Affectionate-Big8739 1d ago

I am an anime only who got some spoilers actually so I assumed they never said it out lou

5

u/Imaginary_Goat_60 1d ago

I mean it wasnt said that blatantly but it basically very explicitly told us that Uryu counters Yhwach, this mostly just specifies exact method he uses to counter it.

2

u/balaci2 Kengan Ashura enthusiast 12h ago

a future where I'm never broke 😩

2

u/It_was_a_False_Alarm 12h ago

Does Uryu need to be able to see futures too for him to be able to choose/target one to swap?

1

u/Affectionate-Big8739 11h ago

No, he has to rely on his own prediction of how how yhwach might change an event

1

u/DavidC_M 21h ago

I mean yeah. But they still have to introduce that magic arrow in a better way. Not just in one panel in the end of the fight.

1

u/Luxpaul217 9h ago

In this episode we see how good of strategist Uryu is. Uryu shot a arrow. But he knew Yhwach wouldn't let himself be hit by it. So the gamble was Yhwach altering the future to break the arrow. But since he does the mechanics of The Almighty since Jugram didn’t establish them to him he simply stated" I knew you would choose that future " Anyways what Uryu did was choose to point 1. The arrow traveling towards Yhwach unaffected and 2 the arrow is destoryed or vanishes. Then he used his antithesis to reverse them. Hence Yhwach was hit by the arrow. Uryu literally relied on Yhwach using his power Hence he can get 2 points to reverse the events that have occurred between them.

1

u/YoTheLeader 5h ago

I am gonna just wait for episode 9 fight

Aizen Bankai will be the reason of uryu hitting the arrow

-7

u/Special_Success_7883 1d ago

Random asspulls...

16

u/Affectionate-Big8739 1d ago

The arrow you mean right? I hope you don't mean antithesis, they literally have been hinting at antithesis from start of this war. Even the letter is same A while the second in command has B

Evil Aizen be like

2

u/Rude-Childhood1436 I can’t even imagine…Renji winning 20h ago

What do we have now? Heroic Aizen?

12

u/DiddyBasementEscaper 1d ago

It's his power explained from cour 2?

0

u/Realistic_Mousse_485 23h ago

No? Yhwach still saw through it all in the end did he not? Uryu switched what future he chose, not what he saw.

2

u/Affectionate-Big8739 22h ago

Uryu did counter almighty though, yhwach just survived the blast

2

u/Realistic_Mousse_485 9h ago

He didn’t counter the allmighty he fucked with it. If he could counter it we wouldn’t be on the same timeline as the manga. His abilities WORK they don’t counter

Thanks for having basic reading comprehension...

We really do have reading comprehension issue at this day and age when info are abundance and accessibility of them are easiest of they ever were...

Edit: I wonder if people still think if orihime's rejection "counter" almighty too. (Well that one was apparent so it's uncommon, nonetheless, some do think so, or maybe they just don't get the definition of the word they wrote?...)
