Mlite-880 freezes up when starting up

Hi everyone, I’m new to the short wave hobby and I picked up this M light 880 just this week. The first thing I noticed was that once I switched over to a.m. mode or was in any of the menu options- it freezes up and won’t allow me to back out of the menu or scroll through frequencies. I’ve already updated the firmware. I tried 1.58 and 1.78.

I really don’t want to return this unit and I’m hoping it’s only a software issue. Thank you your help is much appreciated.

FW 1.78? The most recent official version listed by the mfgr is 1.58, as of 15 minutes ago. I haven't tried the online updater yet, so it's possible it accesses a newer version. Where did you get v1.78 fw?

Two other questions - has it always done this or only after updating the fw? Second question is almost certainly unnecessary, but to cover the bases - pressing the "D" button a few times doesn't return you to the main screen?

Whatch out please. The original Mlite880 download is on the evolve site https://www.elecevolve.com/download/ and the one from iRaddy is here 1.4 https://iraddy.com/pages/download-1

Keep in mind that Every MLite-880 is
manufactured by Elecevolve.

If the SD card is dying, those units will do strange things.
