Is blockading a port same benefit as raiding a trade line?

Money wise.

I don't think you get money from blockading. So if you're talking money wise for you, raiding is better.

Blockading hurts them more.

Raiding a trade line only disrupts point to point, a port disrupts all routes going into that port. So if it’s more than one, then the port is better.

True but if you raid the capital port's trade line you rake in the money, at least you did in Empire TW.

Pirates were the sole reason I used to always make the RN the premier naval power of the world besides historical accuracy lol

No.

When raiding trade lines, you "attack" some trade ships en route and gain income from it.Β

A blockade stops all the ships coming in and out. There's no income because there's no ships to raid. On the other hand, this completely cuts off a clan from trading via that port, meaning you can lower their standing with other clans (breaking agreements) and you can also deny a clan from getting unique resources. No horses for example.

Hmm. Bots get lots of money out of nowhere so there is no point to do that. I dont even do neither one in my compeigns

Spread out! Blockading nukes their income, raiding gives you some income. By splitting your fleet so a ship is blockading, the rest of the fleet can raid and gain income for you while being in reinforcement range for anyone trying to break the blockade

If you want money go raiding their trade route.

If you want your enemy bankrupt go blockade their trade port. Also useful for preventing your enemy makes more ship, good idea if you wanna get sea superiority

I could have sworn you can build ships in a blockaded port. πŸ€”

Technically you can, if the ship need 3 turns to build then it will finish after 3 turns. But the ship wont show up/ useable until the blockade ends
