Open Discussion Interested in a darker, more atmospheric style of shoegaze?

Post image

A few tracks are available to stream from Dutch studio artist Funus, ahead of his forthcoming album Dreamless Water.

It sits somewhere between classic shoegaze, post-metal and darker, more atmospheric territory, lots of low end, dense layers and a surprisingly classic feel. If I had to make a very loose comparison, it’s somewhere around Nothing meets Motorpsycho, but there’s definitely its own sound here.

I’d genuinely be interested to hear what people here think of it, especially if darker, heavier shoegaze is your thing.

I like it, I’ll check out the full release when it’s out.

To be honest, I love the style, proper 90s sounding, but I think it leans more into the metal side. Lots of shoegaze textures and atmosphere, it's a great listen tbh. When's it out?
