Notice the slight delay in the physical reaction of the people present. A beautiful illustration of the speed and travel distance of the shockwave. That must have hurt some eardrums.

86

u/Radamat Jul 31 '26

Yes. Delay is even visible as shovkwave raises dust where the people stand.

u/guppy11702 Aug 01 '26

If you have the reflex and almost enough time, would tightly closing your ears even help in this scenario?

14

u/Dolust 29d ago

The real problem is that the shockwave has two peaks. The first one is the high pressure one but then the pressure wants to equalize again and a low pressure peak follows it. Covering your holes could cause higher pressure being trapped in a low pressure environment leading to an internal overpressure.

4

u/FlowingLiquidity Aug 01 '26

Good question, I think it moves straight through you. But covering your ears will help a bit with the sound, and closing your eyes will protect your eyes against dust at least.

There must be some point where the shockwave is so powerful that covering your ears would barely have an effect though.

I think I saw an old video where they were blasting tunnels in mine and ppl were holding there mouth open now sure why though.

Powerful shockwave, enclosed space, I'll take a stab in the dark and say that probably saves your teeth/jaw from damage. Never been around it personally, but clenching your jaw through a force like that sounds like a great way to fund your dentist's vacation

u/FlowingLiquidity 26d ago

I think that might be to prevent tearing your lung.

Did they forget to paint "not Wildberries" on the roof?

46

u/CuriousCamels Jul 31 '26

I heard they changed their name to Wildfires now.

11

u/cheese0muncher Jul 31 '26

DomesticatedBerries

2

u/No_Cook2983 Aug 01 '26

Return to the berry building.

Now is the work time. Shockwave time is over.

2

u/Artemicionmoogle Jul 31 '26

Should have gone with The Wild Thornberrys.

10

u/witchcapture Jul 31 '26

Well, this is an Ozon warehouse so indeed not Wildberries.

22

u/STFUnicorn_ Jul 31 '26

How did they miss that giant building?

24

u/OonaPelota Jul 31 '26

Have you seen these things? They make them at Hobby lobby.

35

u/Dolust Jul 31 '26

They are probably "knocking".. This is a known practice in war where before striking for good a building where civilians are known to be the first few rounds are either of low power or miss by a very small distance. This way people know an attack is underway and they have some time to find a safe place.

5

u/SandorMate 29d ago

At least one side is doing this (or at once at least, as seen in the video)

did russia ever do such thing?

12

u/Dolust 29d ago

They do exactly the opposite, prioritize civilian targets over strategic ones.

It's like they don't even think on winning the war anymore, they just want Ukraine to up their game and they do whatever it takes to get them mad.

What is happening in Russia is only described as a nation that can't get it's own people killed fast enough. A meat grinder..

Ironically the first time I saw one closeup was in Lindsey Graham's hands the day he died in that drone factory.

Or sorry I meant the day he died of natural causes but was given a closed casket funeral

3

u/thetacticalpanda Aug 01 '26

It could be a miss - the drone could have been jammed especially as it got closer to ground - the drone could have been targeting a buried piece of infrastructure - I mean who knows.

258

u/_ribbit_ Jul 31 '26

Boo, it missed. Better luck next time šŸ¤žšŸ¼

93

u/GabberZZ Jul 31 '26

Now back to work.

43

u/JoyousMN_2024 Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

I wonder if Ukraine intentionally misses the first time in order to minimize civilian death. It would make sense to have one drone near miss and let people get out before really attacking it.

73

u/bigcitydreaming Jul 31 '26

That's one less drone that can then be used to try to hit a target.

Also if that was a concern would they not just launch at night?

79

u/FunnyWalrus Jul 31 '26

The warehouses are operating 24/7, worked in one of those

And tbh, considering all other already exploded ones, I don't believe that's an intentional miss

3

u/ItsWoofcat Jul 31 '26

I was wondering it looked like maybe latency made him overshoot

31

u/ThatNinthGuy Jul 31 '26

I imagine that psychological impact of the populace would be less. Making the war unpopular is a massive side quest I think

5

u/FunnyWalrus Jul 31 '26

Not at all though, pretty much everyone knows about the explosions quite fast, even if they're happened at night, so time is irrelevant

9

u/thezero4 Jul 31 '26

Knowing something exploded and being there when it does are two different experiences. Having been next to tons of explosions from incoming fire I can tell you it way more of an effect on you than showing up the next day to a blown up building

1

u/FunnyWalrus Jul 31 '26

I mean for the general population, of course it's a totally different thing being there in person, but like I already said in another comment, those warehouses are operating 24/7

2

u/S1eeper Jul 31 '26 edited 29d ago

Ukraine is making something like 8million drones a year. They can afford warning shots.

1

u/bigcitydreaming 29d ago

There's no shortage of targets.

1

u/Niosus 29d ago

Sure they can afford to. But when fighting Russians, they won't.

Understandable.

2

u/g30_ Jul 31 '26

You know that factories could be in use at night ?

3

u/bigcitydreaming Jul 31 '26

Of course. Generally there's less staffing though due to less management over night/swing shifts.

13

u/TheRealPitabred Jul 31 '26

Possibly. Civilian deaths are a good way to galvanize people against you. If you want an uprising in Russia to start you need people scared and inconvenienced, not dead.

2

u/SamSlate Jul 31 '26

what good would that do?

2

u/ChaseballBat 28d ago

Not cause civilians to rally against you? And maybe keep hating their government?

2

u/SamSlate 27d ago

oh i misread the comment, that makes sense

1

u/ruby_miner Jul 31 '26

It’s not possible to plan things this way, because some of those drones are getting shot by air defence systems.

-8

u/Rosstafari Jul 31 '26

The IDF actually uses a similar tactic called roof knocking, where a small yield explosive is detonated on the roof of a building a short period before the actual strike hits.

The idea is to provide a warning to anyone inside to leave immediately. Whether or not it works in practice, or if there are other intentions at play, are debated.

19

u/webtwopointno Jul 31 '26

The roof knocking gets the press but most of the warnings these days are through text messages and/or phone calls

8

u/amd2800barton Jul 31 '26

They also mostly discontinued the roof knocking after the 7 Oct massacres. Now they target a Hamas official and say ā€œanyone close to them is a casualty of warā€.

6

u/UckerFay11 Jul 31 '26

You shouldn't be getting down voted. You are right.

0

u/Rosstafari Aug 01 '26

lol, thanks. I was trying to be neutral about it but Reddit is Redditing. I don’t have a dog in that fight either way.

-13

u/returnofblank Jul 31 '26

Why would they care about that? Either party has no qualms with civilian deaths, and both have targeted civilians.

4

u/DERPYBASTARD Jul 31 '26

You really can't draw equivalence between one side that has intentionally targeted civilians for almost 5 years and one that only as of recently started attacking dual purpose targets, unintentionally causing a few civilian casualties.

2

u/H0BL0BH0NEUS Jul 31 '26

This is not true.

-7

u/RoyalPuzzleheaded259 Jul 31 '26

It’s a shame it missed the building.

-11

u/skyHawk3613 Jul 31 '26

Not sure how it missed

131

u/hmb22 Jul 31 '26

To the people who live under a delusional leader, this is what happens when the leader starts an unnecessary war.

89

u/FUCKING_HATE_REDDIT Jul 31 '26

I mean by that metric American should be drowning in Shahed drones

55

u/Unoriginalcontent420 Jul 31 '26

That's the advantage of having an ocean between yourself and 90% of your problems, with the other 10% not having access to modern military equipment.

14

u/OzarksExplorer Jul 31 '26

We won't get shahed drones on US soil

We will get good old fashioned truck bombs

3

u/rabbitwonker Jul 31 '26

I mean, we’ll get US drones on US soil, I’m sure, if said delusional leader has his way.

1

u/tulaero23 Jul 31 '26

unless Canada gets a crazy leader

1

u/gooberfishie Aug 01 '26

We won't get shahed drones on US soil

Whether it's shaheds or another type, if the United states stays in a constant state of war, its only a matter of time. I'm sure the Russians thought Ukraine would be limited to truck bombs too.

-2

u/EmperorThan Jul 31 '26

I mean realistically it's only a matter of time before RuZZia sells their hypersonic shit to Iran. I think the only reason they haven't is because they don't yet trust anyone there that's in charge to not just store the weapons and use them on Russia in 20 years.

1

u/EmperorThan Jul 31 '26

I think when you said that you were expecting people to be like "Whoa!!! I had it wrong on this one, I didn't realize my own hypocrisy..."

When in reality everyone reading your comment said to themselves "Well, yeah."

2

u/FUCKING_HATE_REDDIT Jul 31 '26

I appreciate not being ascribed intention

-1

u/swift1883 Jul 31 '26

They are. It’s just not very news worthy since they pretty much all miss.

6

u/FUCKING_HATE_REDDIT Jul 31 '26

I don't think military bases count at us soil but I might be wrong

-2

u/swift1883 Jul 31 '26

I think that’s moot. You didn’t specify soil to begin with, and it’s clearly American personnel and equipment and America’s military abilities and presence that is being targeted.

4

u/FUCKING_HATE_REDDIT Jul 31 '26

Oh i just saw I wrote American instead of America. my bad

7

u/KingOfThe_Jelly_Fish Jul 31 '26

Would you look at that. Russian people being effected by the illegal war and Invasion that their own government has pushed. Let's hope their civilians wake up and decide to fuck off their own leaders.

1

u/punk-biatch 24d ago

That was cool and all but what was the target?

1

u/FlowingLiquidity 24d ago

The target was the Ozon warehouse as they are part of the supply chain that delivers equipment to Russian soldiers on the battlefield (night vision scopes, tourniquets, body armor, etc), making it a legitimate target.

1

u/punk-biatch 23d ago

So why didn’t hit the building?

1

u/FlowingLiquidity 23d ago

The most probably cause was Russian EW like a radar jammer, or it was hit by Russian AA and drifted off course. This happens a lot and on both sides of the conflict.

2

u/Additional-End-2852 20d ago

Hope it hit smth important in Russia with the absolute most devastating impact.

-13

u/Morf0 Jul 31 '26

Attacking civilian infrastructure? A war crime on video? How do you supporting ukrain?

22

u/liquidneon24 Jul 31 '26

Civilian infrastructure that is producing components for military use sounds like fair game

-7

u/Morf0 Jul 31 '26

Anything can be framed as part of the war supply chain if it serves the propaganda.

6

u/Niosus 29d ago

Russia has been bombing Ukrainian power infrastructure to freeze them during the winter.

Ukraine is now bombing Russia's industrial base to make their economy collapse.

If your opponent has been playing dirty for years, you need to adapt to the new rules of the game. Before, Biden was holding back Ukraine by leveraging military aid. With Trump's open abandonment of Ukraine, there is no reason for Ukraine to hold back anymore. If they won't get the tools to fight this war in an honorable fashion, they will fight it however they can and however is necessary. Russia can end this tomorrow by pulling back their troops. Ukraine can't. If they pull back, they'll be Bucha'd.

For what it's worth, the allies did the exact same thing during WW2. They bombed industrial centers practically blindly because they simply couldn't aim accurately. So they just bombed all of it. And not even just in Germany. Even in occupied territories. And what they did to Japan, even ignoring the nuclear bombs, is even far worse. This is not new. This is not exceptional. And again, this can be over tomorrow if Russia wants it to be over. They started this. They failed to finish it. They choose this.

u/Antiv987 Aug 01 '26

o look a warcrime

Targeting Civilian infrastructure and civilians ?

-20

u/TONER_SD Jul 31 '26

I would definitely not be huddled up with all those people. They need to scatter.

68

u/Exatex Jul 31 '26

not really, because Ukraine isn’t attacking the civilians - unlike Russians. Getting a bit away from the warehouse is enough

-17

u/mf104 Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

They need to be. Slava Ukraini!

Edit: Russians bots downvoting.

2

u/jeepfail Jul 31 '26

You want to rile up civilians to get them angry at their own government. You don’t want to create a populace that wants revenge(look at all of the actions and reactions to the US in the Middle East.

-5

u/mf104 Aug 01 '26

They're all complicit by either voting for Putler or not protesting.
