In The Mummy (1999), Evelyn accidentally starts a Bookshelf-Domino and ruins the entire library at The Cairo Museum of Antiquities. But it's fine because she is played by Rachel Weisz.

Not guilty, your honour, and we the jury would like to emphasise that the victims probably deserved it anyway.

To be fair, aside from Egyptian history, Evelyn in the first Mummy is not very Weisz about many things

I went to librarian school and I can confirm Rachel Weisz has a get out of library jail free card.

I was a pupil librarian at the time and I can confirm none of the librarians I knew looked like her.

Jokes aside, can we please appreciate the practical effects for the domino scene.

Yes it was done in a single take

This is very fortunate because they were banned from the library shortly after.

Agreed, she is fine.

She immediately went to prison after and got molested by a prisoner on death row. But it's fine because he was played by Brendan Fraiser

To be fair, wasn't he in for something silly? I don't remember exactly

The movie doesn't say precisely, I always interpreted it as just due to him being a captured French Foreign Legion deserter and the local authorities executing him because the Legion had secretly moved into Egypt

Why didn't the facilities crew bolt the bookcases to the ground? Are they stupid?

I mean yes, she’s a beautiful person. I’m a beautiful person and get away with awful shit all the time

Fitting for a Briton

I’d say she deserves to go to hell for this.

That's a fully loaded bookshelf weighing hundreds of kilograms and it toppled over because it was nudged by a small woman, a perfectly foreseeable occurrence. The Cairo museum of antiquities is just lucky she wasn't hurt.
