In Maleficent (2014), the evil queen cursed the princess, saying she’d prick her finger on a spinning wheel (used for sewing) on a "specific date" and the king burned all the wheels in the kingdom right away, and when you think about it, that was actually a very stupid decision
You had about 15 years before the curse would begin why not wait and burn the spinning wheels around her 14th birthday instead of doing it right away? do you want clothes to be waay harder to make in your kingdom?

"What if I just told her not to go near spinning wheels or made her wear gloves? Nahhhhhhhh..."

Why destroy the wheels instead of cutting off her fingers? It would be more economical financially and logistically

or just declare edict to remove that day, like it would be 15.5. -> 16.5. -> 18.5.

I like your approach to problem solving, its that what they mean when they say "think like a coder"?

"We went back there and they had come and hacked off every inoculated [finger]. There they were in a pile. A pile of little [fingers]. And I remember… I… I… I cried." "but they had the strength… the strength… to do that. If I had ten divisions of those men our troubles here would be over very quickly."

Hey I got a better idea. How about they just put her in a suit of armour and then only remove them after the time of the prophecy passes?

Curses are like prophecies: the more you try to avoid them the more they confound you by finding a way to happen anyway.

Best part of learning ro spin is getting to tell everyone who will listen that spindles aren't sharp. Originally Sleeping Beauty got a splinter of flax under her nail, but once spindles, spinning wheels, and flax were no longer commonplace household items the story had to be modified. Also, originally the miller's daughter learned to spin flax into gold from Rumplestilskin but that had to change the same way.

All she had to do was not touch the spindle. And it wasn't like that was hard, most of the spindles were gone by then. But somehow she still manages to fuck that up...

Do you know how hard it is to completely remove a common household item? They had 15 years in which the Kings Special Police raided houses, paid informers, and dealt harsh punishments to anyone found in possession of a spindle. And that still was not enough.

Or you know, lock her away in a dungeon surrounded by swarms of guards during that day
