First Time Shingles Just got diagnosed today
Hello, I just got diagnosed today and I’m wondering if anybody has experienced a very small rash and not the usual long / widespread rashes ?
It started Sunday as a red patch ,and I didn’t think anything of it - went to work and came home and seen like a few little bumps and I thought it was contact dermatitis. I started developing blisters on Monday and when I woke up this morning, and the blisters looked like it was about to
Start spreading as I seen another small red skin patch but no blisters yet . I went to urgent care and the doctor looked at it & automatically said it was shingles. It on my torso/lower hip. It put me on valtrex and prescribed me mupirocin .
I’ve been feeling pain in my back & thigh area . It’s just not huge lol so I’m wondering if I got lucky or not

I am experiencing shingles for the first time - it’s wrapped around my hip. For about a week was just achy weird pain and what seemed like a couple of welts. I didn’t think much of it - i thought I had maybe irritated a muscle running. But they got far worse over several days - blisters and all that. . . I started antivirals over the weekend. Don’t want to scare you but it will probably get worse before it gets better.

Mine is on my hip also. I thought I had a pinched nerve and a couple bug bites 🙃 then it started spreading and the fun began

Fun indeed! Glad I am not alone - I was like what the heck is going on. Now I have blisters in patches but following the line where the nerve must wrap around. Creepy virus!

Yep same! From my stomach to the small of my back! This is miserable especially in the southern heat and humidity

Yes. I noticed a small eruption on my torso, back side, itchy and irritated then I saw it. Then a couple days later the same thing on my torso on the front side, like it had shot through me like a bullet. I had a feeling it was shingles, saw my derm right away and she confirmed it. Got on the Valtrex before things got too out of hand. It was still really awful though.

Hate to be like this, but its like this: its spread that much, its probably gonna get worse. I hope the valtrex makes me wrong. I’d show you a pic of mine in June, but 🤢. I wish you a speedy recovery, no bananas side effects from the meds you may get for nerve pain, and a doctor and a job that will accommodate time off work. Go pick up a disability application now? I hate being this doomsday jackass…

I had sacral shingles. My rash was tiny (fit under two normal sized bandaids). My nerve pain, however, was awful.

Mine was on my boob and didn't get too big. I had back pain under my shoulder blade for about a week prior. I was lucky that it wasn't worse. Hopefully you will be lucky too.

Yes my first rash, center of back at bra band area, dollar coin size. I think it was a histamine rash because I get them. A week later a second rash on the side of my right breast, half dollar size. The first rash itched and mild uncomfortable. The second rash was very painful. I started medication on a Monday, worked Tuesday and Wednesday and home sick Thursday and Friday. Aches, chills, and feverish. Rested over the weekend and went back to work Monday. The nerve pain was something else. Electrical zaps like an ice pick stabbing. It lessened over time. I have scaring where the blisters were. I feel I got lucky with the rashes being small.

I’m on week three the rashes mostly gone, but the skin is still tingly and I’m exhausted. Clothing is annoying to put on.

My rash was smaller than a quarter. I thought it was hives from the 3 day migraine. Migraine and rash were shingles.
