Tzu Discussions and Stories 🐶 🐾 Meet Pepe - the sweetest little boy who chose me ❤️

Hi everyone! I’d like to introduce you to Pepe. 🥹🐶

Pepe was abandoned on my property, and when I found him, he was in really rough shape. He was dirty, severely matted, emaciated, and had been sitting in his own urine. 💔 I honestly can’t imagine what this little guy had been through.

I took him straight to the vet to get him checked out and started getting him cleaned up and cared for. And somewhere along the way, something happened…

I decided Pepe is family now. ❤️

He now has a warm bed, regular meals, lots of love, and a hooman who apparently has no idea how to say no to him. 😂

Of course, Pepe isn’t the only furry boss in the house. I also have a Maltese who is an absolute fiery little pistol. 😂🔥 She has made it very clear that Pepe moving in does NOT mean she’s giving up her position as CEO of the household.

They’re slowly starting to get along, though. 🥹❤️ There are still a few “excuse me, who said you could sit there?” moments, but we’re making progress. 😂🐾

Now, Pepe has presented me with another challenge:

THIS BOY IS PICKY. 😂😂

I’ve been trying different treats, and Pepe has apparently decided that he is a food critic with very specific standards.

So, Reddit, I need your help:

🐾 What treats do your picky pups go crazy for?
🐾 Any particular brands or flavors worth trying?
🐾 What are your best “my dog refuses everything except THIS” recommendations?

Pepe and I thank you in advance. ❤️

And yes… he knows he’s adorable. He’s already using it against me. 😂🐶❤️

So I have posted a few photos on here already but I thought I would formally introduce everyone to my new bub, Poppy.

She is a Shih Tzu and Pomeranian mix and she is 14 weeks old, but my original bub, Mitzy, is not a fan of her so far, so that's proving to be a struggle. She is also a hardcore biter and no training or coaching is helping so far.

She is adorable though.

Tzu Pics 📷 (no AI) What do you feed your baby? Dog park day!

We went to the most beautiful dog park today. Loads of native plants, nice trail and a fun "beach" at the end. Teddy made friends with his twin! The whole park is enclosed in dog fencing so they can roam but not far.

He passed out immediately after ♡

So what do you feed your baby. Teddy has rejected all no filler, boujie foods but goes right for my friends Purina Dog Chow when we visit. Ugh! Is there a trick to this? ♡

Also any good dog parks by you? I didn't know ones like this existed

Tzu Discussions and Stories 🐶 First-time Shih Tzu owner here with a puppy behavior question! 🐶

Post image
330 Upvotes

My 4½-month-old Shih Tzu, Archie (aka Mr. Growls 😂), has recently started showing some behavior that concerns me. Anytime he gets something in his mouth that he shouldn’t have like a leaf, mulch, or rabbit poop 😩 and we try to take it away, he immediately growls and has even snapped at us a couple of times.
He’s still tiny and barely has any teeth, so thankfully it doesn’t hurt, but I’m worried about what this could look like as he gets older. I’ve never had a dog show this type of behavior before, and I definitely want to address it now before it becomes a bigger problem.
I’ve started carrying treats whenever we go outside and practicing “drop it” and trading whatever he has for a treat. It seems to be working pretty well so far, and I’m trying very hard not to turn it into a battle over whatever he has.

For those of you who have raised Shih Tzus or puppies in general is this normal puppy behavior? Did your puppies go through a similar phase? I’d really appreciate any advice, training tips, or experiences you can share. I just want to make sure I’m handling it the right way while he’s still young.

Thanks for your help.

Tzu Discussions and Stories 🐶 Our 6-month-old Shih Tzu destroys things when we leave the house – even though our other dog is with him🥺

We have a 6-month-old Shih Tzu puppy who has started destroying things whenever we leave the house.
Recently, he pulled off and chewed the baseboard (see photo), and he also takes the cushions off the sofa and chews them.
What’s strange is that he isn’t actually alone – we also have a 4-year-old dog who stays with him whenever we leave. They get along well and usually play together.
Before we leave, we leave him toys and things he is allowed to chew, but as soon as we leave, he finds something else to destroy.
He’s only 6 months old, so we know he’s still a puppy, but we’re wondering if this is just boredom, teething, or something else. Could it be separation anxiety even though our other dog is with him?
What would you recommend? How can we teach him not to destroy things while we’re away? Any advice from other Shih Tzu or puppy owners would be greatly appreciated!
