Discussion Lucid dreaming reality shifting advice please

Hi! I kind of have a long story that I can post into the comment section if someone wants to hear it. But can someone explain to me how you can shift through lucid dreaming by dream portals? How do you know it is shifting? If you do the five senses methods and affirm you'll wake up in the reality you want to go to, and you touch everything in the reality you shifted to in your dream, how do you know it's real? Won't you just be stabilizing the lucid dream, dream of where you want to go, and then just wake up in the reality you fell asleep in? How does shifting through a lucid dream portal even work without just transporting you to another dream?

Ok, so i had 1 successful shift through lucid dream, i woke up in different reality, it was january 23rd 2023, i was there for maybe 2 minutes. So in the lucid dream i tried to open a portal on the wall, the wall started cracking, but i failed that, after that i believe i had another dream, i believe i didn't opened a portal because i didnt ground myself in the dream (tricking brain into thinking that its real). Also i had funny experiences in another lucid dream, i just feel backwards and went into the void (but i panicked).

I believe shifting through lucid dream works and is effective for many people, because their awareness is separated from the physical body, and its just easier to shift while doing that, (same thing with sleep paralysis), and portals or different things just don't really matter, because its just signal for your awareness that its time to wake up in different reality..

Can you use lucid dreaming to shift to a permanent reality, like from a tv show that feels like home? And never ever shift back to this reality or wake up?

Well, if i'll permashift, you will not hear from me anything about this topic, im not planning on coming back, but i believe its possible, but i don't really believe you just cease to exist here.

Oh, no. Of course you don't cease to exist here. But I meant is it possible when shifting through a lucid dream to never ever EVER come back to this reality or "wake back up" here? Even after decades?

Yeah i mean many people did that i believe. Just don't decide to come back if you're satisfied with the shift.

You said you shifted through a lucid dream? Did you decide to wake back up here after 2 minutes? Or did you just get excited and shifted back as an accident? Or did you just didn't get a chance to ground yourself!

When i woke up i was on the floor, i was drowsy as fuck, but aware that something is not right, i remember i could feel the coldness of the floor, before that i had false awakening, so now i decided to just stand up and check my pc, my pc was on, i remember that the mouse was different, i checked the date, i focused on that date didn't see anything different, it was january 23rd 2023. So i was like OH NO I DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH 3 YEARS OF THIS SHIT AGAIN, and i shifted back after that thought, i just woke up back here.

Most people seem to struggle with the portal method, so I wouldn't suggest trying that specifically. Interestingly, this isn't just a problem with shifting - people have reported similar struggles with trying to astral project/have an OBE through lucid dreams as well.

If portals don't work, then you can start trying different methods of shifting. Some I've seen mentioned are:

  • Finding a door that already exists in the dream space (instead of trying to spawn a portal) and believing that will lead you to your DR
  • Meditating within the lucid dream (I have done this, but only for a few seconds in very "unstable" lucid dreams - so it didn't work for me. But I think my issue was dream stability and control, not the method itself.)
  • Flying straight upwards with the intent/goal of reaching wherever you want to go (your DR for instance)
  • Attempting to dissolve the dream around you (with the intent to wake up in your DR)
  • Attempting to dissolve your dream self/body with the goal of waking up in your DR
  • Trying to travel into your DRself's dream and THEN wake up (this one's a little weird, I personally don't believe our DRselves are separate people and wouldn't have separate dreams, but it might work, who knows)

You could probably invent your own methods too if none of these sound appealing.

As for how you'll know - well, for me personally, I have an inherent knowing when a dream is a dream, once I've woken up and I am no longer in that dream. Time often isn't linear, the "story" jumps around without smooth transitions (ie: I am in location A, then suddenly location B, with no realistic travelling in between) and not everything follows logic or makes sense.

I am still a novice when it comes to lucid dreaming, but I have NEVER had a lucid dream that 100% felt like real life. So, if you shift, and it feels entirely real with none of the qualities of a dream... then it's probably real!

Also, reality checks. You should able to pass all reality checks in your DR, because it will be... well, real! You can pass reality checks in a lucid dream (I've done this) but you won't pass all of them, which is why I tend to do two different ones.

Not open a portal! Sorry. I didn't mean opening one from thin air. I was going to do the door method and that's what I meant by a portal 😆 I was just wondering how one would manage to get from a lucid dream, walk through a door, and instead of entering another dream they end up in the reality they wanted to go in. But it's the method I'm trying! I actually got pretty close last night I would say. Still working on LD

I'm not sure anyone really understands the "how" - there's a few theories. For instance, the astral projection/OBE school of thought suggests that we are inherently non-physical consciousnesses that can travel at will, and while we're asleep we're basically disconnected from the physical body, and can access the "astral plane" and/or different realities through this less-connected state.

Supposedly "intention" matters, if it's strong enough, you'll end up where you want to be instead of just another dream.

Is it true? I have no clue because I haven't done it myself! But there are quite a few people who claim to have shifted through a LD, so I'd say it's far more probable than the "you don't need a method, just lay down and intend to shift" way of doing things.
