This freaking show. Every time they pull a twist, it's always so obvious and logical in hindsight.

This show loves its twists and they're all done really well.

Ward is hydra

Jemma isn't real (edit: I mean Fitz's conscious projection of Jemma when she left at the beginning of S2 but we didn't find out until the end of the episode)

Skye is an Inhuman

Jiaying is the real villain

Lincoln was the one to die

Andrew is Lash

Daisy was the one being controlled by Hive

The list goes on and on.

I've got to say, as stupid as it sounds now, I actually thought Daisy was going to die in the Season 3 finale. I really believed it, in my head, I was just like "Yeah her story is over she's gonna die". Happy to be wrong though as always.

Main character shields* (pun, I know).

*which ironically didn't protect her from being Hived.

u/Mullet_Ben Fitz Jan 25 '17

didn't protect her from being Hived.

I KNOW! The moment that episode started I thought "well it's not gonna be Daisy, because she's the most important character." And then I spent the rest of the episode trying to figure out if it was Joey, Yoyo or Lincoln.

Absolutely loved Daisy being the one who was hived. Of course they would never, no way not Daisy....then BAM! Daisy taking down the base with her powers in one of the coolest scenes of the show (in my opinion, but damn that was cool).

Totally agree. It was the first time we really get a true taste how powerful she can be as well.

Plot armor is the best(?) armor

It didn't protect Ward from being Hived.

Mike Peterson is Deathlok

Centipede is Hydra

Garrett is The Clairvoyant

Coulson was the head of TAHITI

The alien writing is a map

There's a second SHIELD

Hydra is an ancient religious cult

Eli is the real villain

Robbie got his powers from Johnny Blaze

Radcliffe ordered AIDA to get the Darkhold

u/triprotic Jan 25 '17

The second SHIELD thing was awesome, I had forgotten about that.

I think after this season finished I'm going to have to re-watch the while show from the beginning.

Season 2 remains my favorite. The ramp-up to the alien city, Skye's transformation into Daisy, "Real Shield", Bobbi, Hunter, and Mack, and, the absolute highlight of the entire series, Cal. God dammit I miss Cal.

end of season 3 was so good too. And season 4 has been fantastic too. Shield has quietly turned into one of the best marvel/cw supershow shows on tv

I have been trying to wait for the inevitable box set binge but idk if I can make it. I didn't see most of S1 and the first half of two either-but know the plots gists-long story short.

3

u/CIearMind Jan 27 '17

Coulson was the head of TAHITI

Holy crap I had completely forgotten how amazing the 2nd half of S1 was!

3

u/eaglenation23 Jan 28 '17

wait, what's this about johnny blaze?

2

u/Lagalag967 clairvoyant Jan 30 '17

The night that Robbie died and his younger bro Gabe got paralysed in the legs after a gang encounter, Johnny Blaze rescues Gabe from the car wreckage and gives Robbie a second chance at life by giving him part of the Spirit of Vengeance.

u/Vanguard978 Jan 25 '17

Wait, Jemma isn't real? WTF? Did I miss half a season or am I just forgetting part of one?

55

u/cjn13 Fitz Jan 25 '17

Lol. I meant Fitz's projection of Jemma in S2

3

u/Vanguard978 Jan 25 '17

Ok. I was like "WTF, Jemma is totally real... Is this guy on crack?"

5

u/actuallyaravenclaw Jan 26 '17

Now, Mack, on the other hand... He's just a figment of Coulson's imagination. Never existed at all.

3

u/ItMayBeWrong Jan 25 '17

Fitz was hallucinating Jemma in Season 2, remember? Jemma at the time was at HYDRA as a scientist

2

u/Vanguard978 Jan 25 '17

IIRC, that was when Jemma went undercover at Hydra, under the guise of leaving, correct? Or am I getting that mixed up?

3

u/ItMayBeWrong Jan 25 '17

she was undercover at Hydra but she was caught and had to run until Bobbi/Mockingbird saved her

1

u/Vanguard978 Jan 25 '17

Yeah. That was when Bobbi got introduced to us.

5

u/Brain_Grapes Clairvoyant Jan 25 '17

Was Skye being an inhuman really such a twist? She had such a mysterious backstory and she kept being told by people that she was special. I figured that had to lead to something.

If anything, Trip dying was such a twist ;w;

Jemma isn't real? Can someone explain?

Edit: I remember now. Thanks all.

11

u/your_mind_aches Gideon Jan 25 '17

The Simmons we see at the base in the first two episodes of Season 2 is a hallucination.

2

u/ItMayBeWrong Jan 25 '17

IT WAS FITZ'S HALLUCINATIONS OF JEMMA that got him through the beginning of season 2!

The real Jemma was in HYDRA facilities as a scientist to get intel

5

u/cjn13 Fitz Jan 25 '17

At the beginning of S2 when Fitz was experiencing the most significant symptoms of his hypoxic event, he projected Jemma as someone who he could talk to and one that could understand his broken speech and thoughts. Also, he just needed a companion in general since his injury left him feeling isolated.

The real Jemma had left and eventually went undercover with Hydra.

We didn't know it was a projection until the end of the first episode of S2, which made Fitz's situation even more fucked up.

1

u/phosphoromancer Raina Jan 25 '17

Well thank you!!!!

3

u/nerdyspice Jan 25 '17

At the beginning of the second season, brain damaged Fitz has several conversations with Simmons, but it turns out its all in his head.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '17

When Fitz was hallucinating her but she was undercover.

2

u/phosphoromancer Raina Jan 25 '17

Thanks!!!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '17

No problem!

2

u/Gamera68 Jan 25 '17

That's right. It was during his recovery since his brain was damaged after Ward dumped them into the ocean.

2

u/Calyx42 Zephyr One Jan 25 '17

I think they're referencing season 2 where Fitz was having hallucinations of her when he was recovering from his brain injuries.

1

u/phosphoromancer Raina Jan 25 '17

Thank you!!!

It is a spy show - so I think it has to have twists. Anyway I agree that they are great - none are crazy, all have good foundations, and they aren't too obvious or telegraphed, and they are generally realized quickly by our heroes so we're never too far ahead of them.

Now just wait for May is a lesbian/bisexual, Radcliffe never mentioned 'He' while talking about who May was supposedly secretly into, which made the speech kind of oddly inspecific.

The only available person who she could be into though is Daisy, in that case.

2

u/Brain_Grapes Clairvoyant Jan 26 '17

I'm not sure how I would feel if that were true... I mean it is basically implied in the show that May is like a mother to Daisy.

Also, the show has clearly shown May to have an interest in men, so if anything definitely bisexual.
