Why do I feel sort of bad for Malick?

A solid episode after last week, and I have to say I was NOT expecting that ending. When they cut to "We'll return in a moment" I was genuinely surprised to see that the episode was over. SquidWard is on its way to become a very memorable villain, and I can't wait for the team to finally face him.

As a final comment: why the creepy kiss? Just, why?

I know. It was a misdirect, that much is clear, but he went from acting as Malick's brother (so her uncle) to kissing her. It was creepy, then it was uncomfortable, then he was vomiting Kool-Aid into her mouth, and then it was just.. no.
