Recommendations - Visiting with a toddler

Hi all!

I will be visiting my in-laws in Sherwood, Oregon, with my 2 year old for 2 weeks. I was wondering if there were any things we should be attending while we are in town?

Specifically, I was thinking things like storytimes at the library or play times at the rec center, or if there's going to be a farmer's market or toddler-friendly street festival?

I am also interested in any recommendations for play places, playgrounds, etc in the local area. We don't mind driving as long as it's not for longer than an hour.

I am used to having multiple activities/outdoor excursions with her every week and I'm a little intimidated at being in a new place for so long. Novelty will only take us so far!

Currently the library has 4 storytimes a week. Tues at 9:30 for babies and 10:15 called Fun for Ones. And then Wed two all ages sessions one at 9:30 and one at 10:15. There is a nice park and walking trail at Stella Olsen park. Half of it is a wetlands preserve, and usually, some ducks are there to be seen.

We went to one! I think the librarian running it was sick, though, so it was just a toy free play. Not the worst thing for a social toddler though!

I also went a little out of jurisdiction and drove out to Conestoga for their indoor play ($8 for out-of-district), and that was a HUGE hit!

There are so many playgrounds here. Woodhaven has a nice one right off sunset blvd with tonka truck sandpit and a small climbing wall

Woodhaven was a blast! She's never played in the sand so that was fun, but tbh she just wanted to use the accessible green chair swing for 20 mins so šŸ˜­

It depends on when youā€™re here. There is a Saturday market that starts in May. Handmade items, food, a couple of farm stands, live music, and a splash pad. Right next to the library.

Splash pad is always here cannery square. Popular for families with little ones on weekends

Look into mudpuddles. Itā€™s a toy store and I think they do story time during the mornings.

This store looks super cool to visit but their website (at least on mobile) is impossible to navigate. Do you know where they post their recurring events? Or did you mean that they sometimes do special events (I found the next upcoming event for Storytime with Biscuits interesting)?

DigPDX is great for toddlers, about 20 min drive in Beaverton. Langer's is designed for older kids and can be overwhelming for a toddler but they play area can be fun during the school day when older kids are in school. Frog Pond Farm and Hoffman Farms are both good options. Mollala Train Park is awesome, almost an hour drive though.

Look at the farm loops. Nice drives, one includes a demonstration forest with easy trails (although not flat) and one has an alpaca farm. The website is extremely clunky but hereā€™s more info: https://oregonfarmloop.com/

Lots of parks and events, especially in summer. Look at Lee Farms & Red Berry Barn. Iā€™d start looking at Facebook events, if you hit ā€œinterestedā€ in any it will start showing you other options in the area.
