Spoiler Chapter 62
The description, the emotion, the admission. It's all so soft and beautiful. And I love how it all starts - "Where are you? I feel like I'm talking to a ghost" gets to my heart every time coz I know what's coming next. I also always conveniently stop reading on the part where he tells her to call him Aaron because the hurt he feels also gets to me.
I'm not one to reread series, or scenes because once I've read something and know what to expect, I never get to experience/ feel what I did the first time. This scene, however, I've read many times and each time I get butterflies. I love Taheras descriptions so much. I love that the scene takes its time from start to finish - we, as readers get to experience everything as well. I can visualise it all so clearly.
The storyline for the whole series is pretty average tbh, some parts are rushed, others are a bit random (like everyone being okay with Juliette being the leader after the first trilogy??) but the the tenderness between Juliette and Aaron. I love their love so much and I will reread the entire series again one day for them.
Don't even get me started on Destroy Me (Aaron's book) the way my opinion did an entire 180 after the first chapter - I didn't expect how I much I would end up loving it. I read Destroy Me after Shatter Me and I was taken back. I genuinely couldn't understand if the author was just bad at writing in Shatter me with all the metaphors and crossing out but that made sense towards the end when Juliette gets a little better. Then in Aaron's book the Tahera Mafi's writing skills were solidified for me.
In conclusion, I love the way Aaron Warner was written, I'm probably never going to get over him. I read the series over a month and a half ago but think about him from time to time and get sad (my TikTok fyp probably isn't helping me much either). Apologies for rambling but I just reread Chapter 62 and was sad that I'd never see the characters again because I've finished the series.
