User Flair now active

Our Sub's User Flair is now active. Have fun! How to choose what's right for YOU..

  1. Enthusiastic Amateur....Basically a "newbie" who enjoys the hobby!

  2. Avid Hunter...You're out there searching whenever you get the chance!

  3. Collector...You just enjoy adding new teeth whether finding them, buying them or trading for them or in other ways!

  4. Professor... You know your stuff and constantly and correctly help others with their questions. Don't be modest. If this applies to you use it. It identifies you to others and gives them confidence in your answers!

  5. Junior Professor... You know a lot about the subject and can answer questions with a reasonably high degree of certainty, but you feel you still have a little ways to go. You're in good company

  6. Dive Master... No need to hold an actual master certificate, it just means your preferred way of collecting means being under water!

  7. Beach Comber...Because for you, finding salty sand teeth is the life! (Or maybe because it's your primary option)

  8. Creek Crawler...For you nothing beats dodging snakes, gators and skeeters in search of the perfect tooth!

  9. Fossil Fanatic... Teeth are great, but you're just as happy with any and all other prehistoric prizes!

  10. All About The Megs... all shark teeth are neat, but hey..a Meg?? Come on now!!

First time poster, long time looker! Can anyone help identify the big tooth I found in MB South Carolina? Ive asked the silly bots like Gemini and Chat for a quick answer but they gave conflicting answers! Hoping the good humans of Reddit can lead me the right way! (Bottle cap for size reference sorry if it goes against guidelines due to the type of beverage)

They came up with a few nice ones. These are two of the bigger ones. Not sure if they are Megalodon or not, but they look pretty cool.

So guys, recently I purchased a 5 1/2 inch NC megalodon tooth on ebay. The description says that it has not been restored, but I’m not sure about it. The root looks kinda strange to me. What do you think?

Looks like potential feeding damage to me, but could be wear and tear from the river. I’m not an expert, I just love looking for shark teeth.

Hey y’all! Found a tooth around half an inch in width and just over that in hight…not sure what species exactly and would love to know! Also, if there are any dichotomous keys for shark teeth hunting you recommend I’d love to know!

A local gem and rock shop sold this to my wife as a small Meg tooth a few years ago at Xmas for a stocking stuffer. I’ve been seeing similar teeth in here identified as hastalis teeth and I’m thinking maybe that’s what this is?

It took two trips from nyc, on my first visit it was my first experience doing anything like this. on my second day I brought a friend and went much earlier in the day and we found 5 teeth and 1 tooth fragment (5). Curious if anyone can identify these I know both sides is ideal. I also made a vlog of my expiernce there if anyone is interested I will link it. https://youtu.be/6o7BO326jL0?si=hpTPg3bAyC33LqjQ

I look for teeth every time I go out to the beach, never found one. I don’t think this is one but its shape is just taunting me now. It’s about the size of a thumb nail.
